Hi Everyone I am almost at the end of my chemo and had a discussion with my ONC yesterday. Because I am on Deltaparin for a blood clot during cycle 1, I was told that I may not be able to take tamoxifen. My ONC said that I may possibly need to have an Oophorectomy however, they would disucss this with my team and give me their decision once they weigh up the risks. I obviously don't want to do the dreaded 'Google' thing. But I was looking for advise from anyone who has had an Oophorectomy. Any info would be much apprecaited. Thanks Martha

Sorry I've not been on all day, I decided that my work was slipping due to this BC malarky and I came to the conclusion that I need more clients so I've been pulling together a new marketing campain and a few blog posts lol
I am glad everyone managed to drag themselves away from the bar today and you are all back home resting.
I see the bar is empty tomorrow - Thanks to our Chelle drinking it dry lol. I'm going on the live chat in a few mins, so will spend some time after that catching up with everyone.
Take care sparklies

Hey Lins - You made it back from the bar. I hope your sicky feeling goes away, but remember to take a bucket to bed with you sweetie.
You can get a copy of mummys lump from the BCC peeps or your bcn can give you one. I told my ES everything (aged 13) and used Kylie Minogue as an example and he was really good.
With my YD (aged 7) we just told her that mummy had a poorly boob and I needed an op to make it better. She then decided at that point to call me roboboob. When the decision was made to go through chemo, we told her that mummy's boob wasn't better and I needed stronger medicine to make it better, but I would loose my hair and then we used Jessie J as an example of loosing hair i.e. she shaved hers and mummy would do that too. My bcn gave me a copy of the book and my OH sat down with her and read it but....We left out the word "cancer", only because we didn't want to fighten her too much. Now she loves my bald head and is constantly trying to stroke it every time my head scarfs are off lol.
All in all, my family have taken it really well (except my mum as she's always been a bit of an ostritch lol). I think that may be down to my upbeat and somewhat nutty sense of humour. I must admit that in the early stages of dx, I found it really hard to stay positive all of the time and spent my "alone time" reflecting and saying "why me". Now I just get on with it as if it's part of my everyday life and being on here certainly does help and I've come to realise that I'm not the only nutty person around here....Not mentioning any names lol
I'm off for dinner now sparkly chicks xx

Marion I hope all goes well for your tomorrow...Ask for the "little blue pill" it works a treat and should calm your nerves ;) Yeah my memory is going to and it's a darn nightmare. The kids are really cashing in on my forgetfulness (grrrr). Glad the hairy legs cheered you up, I had to shave mind again last night so I'm kinda hoping that come cycle 3 (next week) they will start to fall off haha.
Hey Aunt Bessie, I can supply bells too lol
Marie cor blimey I hope your pooch is ok now and smelling of roses xx
Fiona I'm pissed about my legs also and here was me thinking about some advantages of chemo and it slaps me in the face again ;)
Happy snoozing Chelle - Yeah I tend to drink fast and run faster as soon as I'm finished. Most of my delays are due to the barman delaying getting my cocktails ready so I'm hoping he will have them ready for me on time next week.
Back to work again :( xx

Chelle my sweetie - Glad you're back home after your cocktails and it's great that they all went down smoothly this time. Remember to brush your teeth to get all those cheesy balls out lol. Fingers crossed for some bowel action later ;)
Vick - Get back to work lol xxxx
Catch up later sparkley ones xxx

Amber - Love your dog...he's so cute. My dog would certainly go in the huff with me if I took him to a doggy parlour and had him sprayed lol. Great idea to batch cook for the kids and the OH. I'm quite lucky that my OH loves cooking (although doesn't do it too often), my problem is that he trys to be masterchef and comes up with some weird concotions lol
Debs, I so feel absolutely battered at the moment. My new pic is exactly how I felt this morning sitting at my desk - Battered and tired. May have a wee afternoon nap (kids permitting). I must try and get some of that Manuka honey, I've heard good things about it ;)
Jackie it looks like I have competition for sleepy hollow. Usually from days 3-8 after my chemo I can sleep all day and all night and then I'm back to normal during the day but I must admit that I tend to lounge on the sofa for an hour or so after the school run and then I'm back at my desk trying to work lol
Well a bit of info for anyone who had spots, periods and hot flushes after their 1st cycle. I haven't had a period, I have no spots and I haven't had any flushes after cycle 2 - So all good news.
Ok, back to work for me.....Chelle, I hope you're rockin that bar today xxxx

Good morning sparkley jewels
Jill that's great that the sleep fairies visited you last night - I bet it felt good ;) I hope your back is ok. I work from home so I don't have the pressure of speaking to anyone so my emotional moments are usually limited to the forum lol. Haha, I also thought I'd be the miricle child but a few days after my 2nd cycle, I started to shed and now I'm week 2 after my 2nd cycle and I'm completely bald, grrrr. Ah yes, I think your chemo brain must have kicked in.
Lins, thanks for the tips. I never, ever take my steriods after 2pm. I take them at 9am and 1pm and by the time evening comes, I'm ready for my bed.
Fiona, thank gd your SE's are minimal this time round. About bloody time sweetie xx
Vicki, watch that "scratchy" throat in case it gets worse. Remember, you don't need a high temp to be ill. I'll send you some bubble wrap and cotton wool xxx
Chelle - Keep away from the cheesy balls, they get stuck in your teeth lol. I hope you are having a blast at the bar today and remember, no pushing....You have to wait in line lol xxx
Sandra, I hope aunt bessie is well today - I have some nice tassles that could go with the jiggling lol (only joking). So glad the drugs are helping you sleep. For the first time ever, I struggled to sleep last night but I suppose I'm not as bad as some of you ladies as I was only awake until 00:40am so I got off lightly. Enjoy the "no snoring" for a few days lol
Jill, you are so funny (without actually trying to be lol). Love your BC & ex-OH analagy. It is so true.
Nothing exciting happening here at the moment. Kids off school (bahumbug), weather is rubbish, I'm working (well sort of lol) and now the nails on my fingers are officially battered. I'm using nail strengthening stuff and black nail polish, but it still isn't doing the trick - Any tips?
Have a wonderful day xxxx

Welcome to the Jewels Shygirl - You're in a great place. We may all appear a little nuts but bear with us and please feel free to join in with the nuttyness xx
Sandra, loved the video it really cheered me up. Here was me bleating on about being able to sleep (OH calls me his, anytime, anyplace, anywhere, even in a disco girl) as I can sleep for Britain but hey ho it's a little past midnight and I'm on my laptop whilst he's snoring away - Now where's the sofa when you need one ;) Re your deflataboob I quite like yorkshire puddings lol but have a quick word with your bcn and see if she can shuffle it a bit more...Have you tried jiggling it a bit, that may help re-shuffle ;)
Trish, lots of loveable Scottish hugs coming your way xxx
Maltomin - Thank you so much for dropping by. It is so uplifting to hear stories from those who are ABC (after BC). Many congratulations to you and I can't wait for that 5 year benchmark to come my way. I have my 3rd cycle next week (half way point for me) and so far it hasn't been too bad. I consider myself one of the luckier ones as far as SE's are concerned although I have gone MIA on a couple of occasions - Docs has my hospital are rather dishy lol
Oh re my profile pic - This is because I had to shave my legs tonight. Not a happy camper as the rest of me is bald!!!!!
Well my sparkley jewels, I can feel the sleep fairies tugging me back to bed. They are closing down my eyelids and are whispering sweeting soft fluffy pillows in my ears. So it's nite nite from me and keep shining xxxxx

Vicki, it's good to be back sweetie. Blimey, are you still going to Zumba? I'd be on my back after the first minute lol Haha, so looking forward to seeing your bright blue eyeshadow, I'll try and match it with bright blue eyeliner ;)
Jayney, I know what you mean about onc visits. I'm quite lucky that my onc doesn't want to see my until next year, but I'm under the watchful eye of the bcn's, my chemo nurses and my chemo doc. I cottoned on quite early that if the bcn was in the onc's office then it was usually bad news, but I got used to it ;) I wouldn't worry to much about it sweetie, I'm sure you will do just fine and it will be a routine checkup on the chemo xx
Emma (Peachy), that's amazing what your mum is doing. My OH and I are looking to do the moonlight walk in Edinburgh next year and yes, he said that he is going to wear a bra haha. Can't wait to post those pics lol
Ann, that's great that you are having a better time of it. You deserve a break from the SE's. I'm stuffing my face too and although I try not to, I just can't help it haha
Lins I hope all went well at the bar today and you're still not propping it up lol. Take care xxx
OMG Chelle, I am so glad that I cropped my hair really short, it just falls down the plug hole so not a lot of cleaning up for me hehehe
Becky, I hope all went smoothly for you today sweetie and you're not with Lins propping up the bar. Haha some of the docs are fairly fit but I'm keeping them in mind for Cress lol I am proud to hand you the title of "super mom", I'm failing miserably as the fatigue is taking over during week 1 lol.
John (Deedee), give Deedee my love and I hope she is out very soon xxx
Jill, I'm so happy that you got some sleep. God knows what's going on with me as I can sleep no problem, even on steriods lol
Cress my sweet, you can wallow in self-pity any time love. I hope you have had a relaxing day on the sofa and managed to get in all the tennis matches. I hope you feel better tomorrow xxx
Chelle - Good luck at the bar tomorrow. Don't cause a ruckus babe xx
Sandra - I told my OH about John coming on here and that he should give it a try his response was "It's hard enough dealing with 1 hormal female without adding another 30 to the backlash". I kinda saw his point lol. I had a similar issue with my scar tissue, it was a large ball until the other week when it just seemed to be a lot smaller, I don't have a dent because my onc shuffled a lot of tissue around (I had big boobs lol) but it has changed shape a bit. I am also starting to feel a little numbness in that area too. Speak with your onc on your next visit and get it checked out, but I am sure it will be fine xx
Fiona, I hope your nausea goes away very soon. I'm like you...No spare room but I do have 2 x 3 seater sofa's so I'm sure one of them will fit him quite nicely lol
Joan, I am loving your wiggy - It's great. Good luck with the headcase doc on Friday and I'm sure your lump is running scared from all the chemo drugs your sending it's way. Fight that battle xxx
Trish, I don't have an eye issue except I wear glasses when my eye's are tired however, I am finding with this chemo malarkey that my eye sight is getting blurred during the day - Not sure if it's because I feel more tired than usual, but I'm going to book myself in for an eye test.
Damn OH is calling me - I'll pop back on later for another update. Keep sparkling xxxx

Good evening my precious Jewels
Chelle - Can't wait till you pop round, I'm bloody freezing lol. Make sure you've got plenty of cotton wool because I'm getting big with all those steriods ;) Hahaha, glad the long sleeve trick did it for you today lol I also take my anti-bacterial wash stuff for the trolley handle. I get some weird looks but I don't really care ;)
Fiona - I'm so glad to be back and trust me, I ain't going anywhere for a long time lol
Oh Trish, that curry sounds lush. I'm going to make it at the weekend ;)
Marion, I'm loving the new profile pic. That headscarf is very you xx
Penny sweetie - The website plays tricks on us lol
Debs, I wouldn't be able to face the M25 any day of the week, never mind when on chemo. Oh I'm so jelous (love Olly) xx
Vicki - I've put on my bubble wrap again!!
Thanks Emma (Peachy), it's good to be back. I've just had a look on the Deresina website. I can see myself making a few purchase tee hee hee!
Emma (Melrose), I am so glad you are feeling a bit better. I love honey (yum yum) xx I'll send you my knicker net by registered post - I have no need for it now lol. I have washed it haha
Cress, I love your new pic, it's so.....YOU lol. I hope you are feeling better sweetie and enjoying the tennis xx
Sandra sorry to hear you're having sleeping issues. I think I must be some kind of mutant because even when I'm on steriods, I sleep like a log at night and can even push out a couple of hours during the day also lol Re the hair coming out, mine didn't start until cycle 2 but the hair your talking about started around day 14 of cycle 1. I did also pluck my eyebrows which was a pain free event, they practically fell out too. My OH blew about 6 eye lashes from my cheek the other day, so it looks like my bottom eye lashes are on their way out :(
Jan, that's really good news that your tumor has shrunk. I'm sure the surgeon will find it when the time comes. We call get depressed sometimes - I had my final stumpy hair shed today and had another good cry - But hey, we are all hear to listen to you as we are all going through the same feelings. Keep your chin up sweetie xxx
Marie it is soooooo good to be back. OH put me on a techy ban so I was well pi**ed off lol. But I'm back now ;)
Faye, I was just scoouting for a potential souter for Cress - There are some very handsome docs in my hospital lol Good luck with the wig cutting xx
Jackie glad to hear that the lactose is doing it's thing for you. I hope your ED is ok xx
pat, I've been on the LGFB course and it's amazing. I'm just wondering if I can go back on it towards the end of my chemo lol Perhpas they won't recognise me haha
Well OH has managed to stream the next series of True Blood so I'm off to watch some telly. Have a relaxing evening Jewels xx

Maxie - You're a star and I'm so glad that you didn't run during your 1st trip to the bar.
Welcome to all the new Jewels, I'm sure I will catch up with you all very, very soon.
Emma - I hope you are feeling much better and Mrs Angry has gone for a few days lol
As a little update peeps, my stomach started to bleed from one of my injection sites and wouldn't stop so they admitted me to hospital until the blood stopped flowing. Then I did my back in so they decided to keep me in for a few more days until that stopped. They tested my blood and my gloucose was at a lovel of 25 (which they thought was very strange). They did a fasting blood test and it came back normal. I forgot to mention I had eaten about half a box of malteesers an hour before they did the blood tests (hence the high glucose lol). Silly me, chemo brain forgot haha.
OH wouldn't bring me any tech into hospital as he thought I'd use it as an excuse to get some work done (yeah right, as if I would lol) and that is why I haven't been able to update anyone. I've packed my dongle into my hospital bag so next time I just need to grab the laptop on the way out the door lol.
I hope everyone is doing ok - There are loads of posts which I really need to catch up on. Good luck to everyone going through chemo tomorrow (not checked the list yet).
I'll have a good ready tomorrow and make sure I've up to speed with everyone.
Love & Hugs xxxxx

Not sure what's happening, but my taste buds are still intacked. My cravings have gone from salty chips to sugary strawberries, but that's the only weird thing that I've noticed.
Loving the cat pic Emma but not good about the furry tongue. Give it a good brushing and it should go away. I'm just waiting on the hot flushes coming next week along with the spotty face :(
Maxie, do as much as you can now because once you've had the chemo, it will take it's toll on you and you will feel a bit more tired that usual. My dog ran a mile when I came at him with a hose hahaha. He's still in the huff with me. You need to post a pic of your wiggies xx I was a bit too tired for a movie so we came home after the meal and I got back into my PJ;s and then we just snuggled on the sofa and watched telly - It was actualy really nice xx
You need to pop up Marie - You & your OH would be more than welcome at my place. We have 3 stations at Livingston, mine is actually Uphall Station (but classed as Livingston) and then we have Livingston North & South.
Don't worry Vicki we won't be delaying the York trip till the end of everyones treatment, I just want to make sure we work things out around you guys just to be safe xx
Chelle - Look after yourself PLEASE. I did the same as you and went shopping with OH for a full day and it knocked me for six. Take it easy. We all think that we are invincible and can do anything but seriously, the one thing that I learnt from cycle 1 is that you have to be careful with your neurophil is low. Take it easy babe xx

haha Marion - I'm hoping that Chelle can secure funding from Theo Paphitis for the knicker nets and that will negate the need for the sticky roller.
Deedee I'm glad you are feeling much better than yesterday. Long may it continue. I'm in Livingston and will be travelling from Edinburgh along with Meggy, so perhaps us 3 can get the train together?
Chelle, stick one of those tea strainers in the plug hole, it'll catch all that loose hair lol. I think nearer the time once numbers have been confirmed, I'm going to call round and get some cheapy rates for us all for group bookings. I think even Betty's can shut up shop for 30 or so lushes for a few hours haha
Aww blad eagle, it is rather scary when you see yourself in the mirror and think "what the feck have I become". Was telling OH today that I'm going to take a lump of cash and spend it on a top to toe full body treatment and get me looking 42 again.
Maxie I'm defo up for the teashirt thing. I have a contact up here who designs T-shirts for charity and does a lot for BC too. Perhaps I can get a deal from her and she could also design us something. Let's get our thinking caps on (chemo brain permitting of course lol). Nice to see you're coming out in sympathy with the hangover but hope your sickness when away xx
NicJ YAY, welcome back sweetie. Good luck for cycle 2 and I hope your SE's are minimal, but then again you are the SE Guru of our Forum xx
Well done Emma (Peachy) on cycle 1. Long may your SE's stay away. Get plenty of sleep xx
Thanks for the nail tip Chelle. I had gel nails removed around 2 weeks before chemo and they're still fairly week, despite trying nail strengthner. I'll need to make a few extra purchases. Loving the new profile pic xx
Jill, Jayne & Nic - I hope you ladies rock that bar tomorrow. Sleep tight xx
DEEDEE - CALL THE DOC if your temp is below 36.0 OK I Hope you are ok sweetie xx
Vicki - I was in the Royal Navy and loved it when I was in Pompey - Young free and single it was a blast lol I'll defo be doing the "big vein" dance tonight before bed for you lol You sure can claim the Beyonce bum and you will get steroids (it's a chemo pre-requisite).
TItus my fingers are crossed for the better drugs. Try and get Emend from them xx
Cassie - I think a lot of us are starting to loose our hair now. I'm on day 5 of cycle 2 and mine started yesterday, but I'm just a little patchy.
haha Tyalor - I loved HuggyBear but thought he was too hairy lol. I used to love watching Kojak with my dad.
Well ladies my Italian turned out to be Portugese last night as OH changed his mind and fancied going to Nandos. Needs to say I was all dressed up with wiggy etc ready for an Italian Stallion and I ended up with a Portugese Pigeon. It was ok, but not the best. I've told him that he'd better make it up to me next weekend and I quite fancy going to Wagamama for a bit of Japaneese Noodles.
Chelle my 3rd cycle is 10th July - Bloods permitting lol.
Any suggestions on dates for York - We need to remember that although some of us may have finished our treatment, there are still those who will be on herceptin so we need to arrange things around that. Sorry, don't mean to be bossy lol. Once we have confirmed numbers, I will make a start on getting discounted rates from hotels, trains etc etc
Oh doing ironing tonight and I'm going to have a nice relaxing bath once the kids have gone to bed. Will catch up soon xx

Haha Marie, we aim to please lol I don't think York will know what hits it when we all decend next year. I think if we try to avoid the major holidays ie Easter May Day etc then we should get half decent priced hotel rooms xx

Meggy, where about in Scotland are you. I live just outside Edinburgh so will be travelling to York from there. We can do the journey together ;) I'm the opposite of food, I can't get enough. Well for the first few days I take it easy because I feel a little sicky, but after that I'm just an eating machine.
Welcome 'bald eagle' It kidda feels ok once you get used to it, but I also had a bit of a cry. I finally managed to prize myself off the sofa and went for a shower. After rubbing the shampoo into my crew-cut I looked at my hand and found a clump of fuzzy stuff. I am no longer the miricle child but the bald child. OH came in and found me sobbing, I just stuck my hand out and said look. His response was "well you knew it would happen" and I suppose he was right but I must admit Ann, it's still a bit of a shock. The fact that you are feeling good also helps with the baldness I suppose.
Haha Cress, we can be sluts together if it helps. Yes of course you can share my Italian. I've been showered and changed, my makeup is on and wiggy is on my head. OH is getting kids ready to take to my mums so it's off for a romantic meal for 3.....Me, OH & the Italian....Oh make that 4...Cress???
