I'm going to have my first chemo on the ROSCO trial on Thursday 24th! Going to be doing the TC. Had 4 teeth removed on Friday in preparation for the zoledronic acid later, and to be honest that has scared me more than anything so far! Probably because I knew how sore I would be after. Though now the chemo is getting closer I will admit to being a little nervous, especially now I know it will be an all day treatment 6 hours in total!
In the last couple of days, I've been having pain discomfort in the armpit, feels like it is swelling. Though I can't feel any lumps and neither could the surgeon. I guess the chemo will take care of that!
Any advice on passing the time on Thursday? Hubby will be more bored than I am!
Hi Ladies...Hope you are all well and coping with your treatment. As i prevously stated i hap 4 FEC and had no problems with it. Had 1 TC...became very ill resulting in being admited to hospital for 8 days...iv antibiotics..fluids etc....treated for Neutropenic Sepsis. Ultrasound showed no more shrinkage. Booked in for mx with Diep reconstruction at end of month. Decided not to have anymore chemo, wanted to build myself up for my operation and if im truthful...kind of scared to have anymore TC even though they offer a reduced dose. On a happier note....I now have baby fluff hair
Update on my missing coil.....ultrasound showed it still there...went in for Hysteroscopy to remove it......not there!!!! Anyone seen it!!!
Just back from oncology appointment. As planned will def have radiotherapy after operation but talking more Chemo If I stick to trial it will be TC (not keen) or other option is off trial with different chemo, also hormone tablets. so bye bye hair again , but if it gets totally rid of this then small price to pay.
anyone had similar experience
love and hugs xx
Hi Jo...so sorry FEC made you ill....I am so lucky that i havent had any side affects....apart from rapid hair loss at day 15...had it shaved off after that . Yes i see my surgeon on Tuesday and 3rd cycle wednesday. As yet not had any updated imaging done but presume will soon . Unless plan has changed...depending how well FEC has worked planning on surgery then radiotherapy.... I had lymph node biopsy done prior to starting treatment and like yourself 1 node was affected
I cant imagine how you felt having had TC then sugery then having to go through FEC then radiotherpy
I know we suffer from Chemo brain....but i cannot for the life of me remeber where i lost my coil . awaiting appointment for ultrasound and GA for camera and investigation/removal.
how are you coping with radiotherapy?
sending love and hugs xx
Hi Ladies...hope you are all well xx I am also taking part in the Rosco Trial. 2 cycle of chemo done (FEC) 3rd next week...fingers crossed FEC has worked Had the added complication...my Mirena coil has to be removed.......cant't find it lol
greatful to find this thread , just started the registration for the ROSCO trial not sure if its the right way, i .will be staring chemo soon, how was your chemo , hope you are well
Hi Jo. Sorry to hear that FEC has given you some unpleasant side effects. Do you have another 3 to go?
My skin is holding out well. I've been using simple soap to wash and E45 to moisturise. I hope it continues! I'm glad I've got the weekend free of radiotherapy. I really am struggling with fatigue. Get plenty of rest Jo and take care of yourself x x
Sorry for delay. I've now had 7 of the 23 radiotherapy sessions. They are easy enough but I am finding I am very tired in the evenings. How are you getting on? x
Hi Jo. You got some good news about the margin, that's great! Sorry to hear you'll be having more chemo. Isn't FEC a bit 'kinder'? I hope it is for you anyway I'm doing OK thanks. Start radiotherapy on 30th. I'm having 23 sessions so I'll let you know how I get on. Hope you're recovering well and are getting to do some nice stuff despite all of this x x
Results day today!
Very positive as a healthy margin was taken with tumour & only 1 node was involved (I asked if they could put them back then!) However I will need more chemo so start that in Feb! Bugger! And it'll be FEC too. I got on fine with the tax!
Soooo appt with onc on 30th to discuss how many, could be 2 or 4. Another 12 weeks off work not earning fills me with dread. We'll have to wait and see.
Hope your well Mary?
That sounds like good shrinkage. We can only wait for the results. As you've said, it's only another 12 weeks if we need to have more chemo (yuk!). I'm in Birmingham Jo and have met another lady (at one of my appointments) who is also in the trial. I'm pleased you're going away for New Year. That should keep you nicely distracted for a few days x
My results might be delayed a bit because of the holidays. I am very anxious Jo. Why did the BC nurse think you'll need more chemo? My oncologist and surgeon are quite optomistic with just four cycles. My 2cm tumour shrank very quickly and couldn't be felt after two cycles. They don't think my lymph nodes were affected either but only those blessed results will tell me! I had a therapeutic mammoplasty as the tumour had shrank. It's been OK and not as troublesome as I thought. What type of surgery are you having? x x
I'm slightly ahead of you Jo. Finished cycle four of TC on 11th Nov, had surgery on 15th Dec and now anxiously awaiting results. I don't want any more chemo! x
