Re: Surgery as a Diabetic - Help and advice please?!

Hi La Luz,

I'm so sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis and thank you for reaching out to the community for shared experiences.

As you haven't had a reply from someone in a similar situation, you may want to chat to one of our helpline nurses before your next hospital appointment. You can reach them on 0808 800 6000.

Take care,

Becca at Breast Cancer Care.

Surgery as a Diabetic - Help and advice please?!

I've just been diagnosed with high grade DCIS. I will need a full MX and have been given the option of implant or DIEP.

Am wondering whether anyone who is diabetic can offer me some advice or share your experience with me to help guide me to a decision on which option I should go for?

I'm mainly after other people's experience post op and your healing process. As a diabetic, we are unfortunately prone to slower healing so i'm curious to know whether this affected your choice of breast reconstruction and also how in general your healing process has been.

Am feeling totally numb since yesterday's news so just feel it important I get as much help as possible before my follow up appointments at the hospital.

Thanks in advance
