Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Thank you - skin is now getting worse which was to be expected - but it does get you down - you do one thing to try and get this cancer sorted and then the side effects send you back - will see how skin gets on next few days or I forsee yet another 100 mile round trip to the clinic!!

Hi Susan glad your coping..you will be ringing that bell tomorrow. Well done you💪I'm still quite pink and warm but it's very doable and nothing compared to recovering after surgery🤦🏻‍♀️xxx

Hi Julsey like Susan said speak with your rads team..what effects are you having? It might just be a case of changing your cream. Hope you get it sorted.xxx

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Hi jo

Hope you enjoyed your lazy day. I'm feeling ok had last review with doc everythings fine so far. If the fatigue kicks in later I've got my comfort blanket ready on back of sofa. Lol

I think I'm coping with the warm red boob as I had infection soon after surgery and that was a lot worse.

Hi julsey
Sorry to hear your having effects, may I ask what effects you're having so far. If you're really worried please talk to your rads team they should be able to help. Mine are really good don't be afraid to voice your concerns.
I'm sure you'll get through all your treatments.
You can do it.....

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Hello everyone - just dropping into the forum. I finish my sessions on Tuesday. I like so many others have used Aveeno cream - it has worked well. I am red and very hot but the skin so far seems okay.

My trip to hospital has been very exhausting - 2-3hrs each way.

I have had added complications so my care had to be in central London - the clinic were wonderful and I have had transport every day BUT it is still leaving at 6am and back anytime between 1-2pm.

Needless to say I have managed to do very little in this 3 week period.

It is weird also to be feelign anxious that treatment is about to end - the hospital has become a second home to me - I have asked about getting pychological help and will get an update Tuesday.

To everyone starting in November - I send all the best to you to soldier through and if in doubt - ask on here or ask at the clinic - the staff are wonderful.

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Well done Jo you're all done and I echo ladybowler's sentiments to take care of you while taking care of your hubby.

11/15 so far but got small problem looks like I've got hives from e45 cream too much lanolin.
I'm now on diprobase cream and they'll see how it is tomorrow. Really itching but managing to keep away from scratching.

I'm ready for weekend break after tomorrow need a good night's sleep.

Hope everyone is doing Ok.

Oh darling I am sending lots of positive vibes to your hubby for his chemo.

Just make sure that you still look after yourself, we tend to forget this when we have a loved one who is poorly as well, you will still be feeling the effects of the rads, so keep up your regime for the next couple of weeks.

Glad you liked it and that it made you smile

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Hello Diane. Welcome and you have certainly come to right place for advice. Regarding your radiotherapy those side effects are all normal. My implant has gone really hard and I too get the stabbing pains.today I'm 14/15 so nearly finished. As for your emotions it's completely normal to feel what your going through.we are all different some cope with diagnosis were as others don't. I'm a bit like you and find it easier to cope at the start of the journey and as much as i want treatment over can get a bit panicky when appointments are less. Also you were probably on auto pilot when diagnosed and then scans appointments and surgery all takes over your life. Cancer is a stressful time and can hit you at the beginning middle or end of treatment plus hormones all over the place. Speak with your oncologist today and hope he/she offers you some reassurance. You are certainly on the right site for advice.
Give yourself a big pat on the back for how far you have come. Well done🤗🤗 sending you a big hug lots of love Jo.xxxx💕💕

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Hello everybody - a little new to the forum - finding things hard but I am at 9/15 so getting through. So far skin is doing okay -  little red and tender and the reconstruction is feeling a little hard. Shooting pains too but have been told all this is normal!! My biggest fears and issues are more emotional going forward - seemed the initial diagnosis and surgery were easier times for me - it is the last few weeks where things have got difficult. Seeing my oncologist tomorrow so will see if she has any advice.

Well done to everyone on this journey so far Smiley Happy

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

That's good Susan that your radioligist pleased with you skin plus your last full week as next week only 3 so it will fly by. 13/15 for me today can't wait to finish... and then start again with my husband.. this c stuff is never ending at the minute. We just have to remain positive and hope the chemo works and is kind to him. Xxxx

Radioligist pleased with skin so far little red patches may be too much lanolin in e45 cream so said I can use Aloe Vera gel I've kept in fridge.

JWD pleased you're almost finished and sorry to hear hubby starts chemo on Friday not given you much of a break as it. Seems Never ending this C stuff.

Take care both of you.

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Hi Susan your over halfway there now👍keep going. mine can be a bit itchy but it's weird because I'm still numb in that area so I feel the itch but not the scratch..if that makes sense. Mine has changed colour but the most redness is along the scar which I suppose is normal and like I say they were happy today. I finish Thursday but we had a phone call today to say my husband's chemo starts on friday so as my journey finishes Gary's starts again. Hope the rest of your week goes well.xxx

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

8/15

Hi JWD
well done turning water into wine (neat trick) 😁
Glad the rads are not causing you many problems at this stage

My boob was already fairly pink on starting rads and now it is a bit redder. I've small blemishes that I'm trying to keep at bay, not sure if they'll amount to anything hope not. And itching a fair bit at times.
I've a review tomorrow so they'll check.

I purchased some pink vests for BC month but the lace edging has caused a rash on opposite side around arm pit. So not sure what to sleep in at moment.
I've got comfort tops so might be those.

You'll be finished this week then and ringing that bell.
Take care

12/15 today no problems. The rads team said area looking really good for this long in and said I must be doing as told. I said I'm moisturizing a lot and drinking plenty of water. However I did turn a couple of glasses of water into wine at the weekend😀🍷💕
Hope everyone's treatment goes well this week.xxx

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

It is totally normal, mine was red almost in a line to my armpit and that was above the tattoo marker in the middle of my breasts, I think they are markers to line everything up.  If you are concerned just ask your rads team and they will re-assure you.

My boob is also pink/red but is was like that before starting rads. I don't feel much change only slightly warmer after this session but cooled down easily with cream.
Had a review and all seems well so far.

Have you had any reviews yet Jo.

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Hi Susan,

diprobase comes in 3 forms, cream, lotion and ointment.

It sounds like you have the diprobase ointment which, yes, is like Vaseline. I am using the diprobase cream.

Maybe take the diprobase to your session today and ask one of the nurses. I hope today goes okay for you. Smiley Happy

Re: October 2018 Radiotherapy

Hi anxious soul
I've just opened my diprobase it looks and feels a bit like Vaseline is that right.
Currently using E45 lotion but just for E45 Cream. So confusing which to use lol.

4th session today 610pm
