I used E45 throughout my rads as that was what my team advised me to do. I moisturised 2/3 times a day, tey do advise you to moisturise not less than two hours before a session. I used to take my cream with me and applied it after my session whilst I was getting dressed again.
Difficult to explain what rads feel like. I didnt really feel anything whilst having it. I dont know that fatigue is a given, however they do recommend you take it a good 2 litres of fluid a day as rads can cause dehydration which in turn has the potential to cause fatigue. Added to that you have the thing of going to and from the hospital every day which can take it out of you. The best thing is to listen to your body and rest when you need it.
The R1 and R2 are a moisture cream and a cooling gel, which if you are advised to use, it varies from hospital to hospital, you have to use from the first day. Other hospital suggest Aveeno.
To be honest the only thing about the rads was i got a senstive nipple towards the end of the session, which they gave me a dressing to use to protect it a bit, and the fact that I had to go every week day for nearly 5 weeks, I hated my life being controlled by that apt.
I have bin told to use only E45 cream. so what are R1 R2 creams? So what does radiotherapy feel like,? is fatigue a given ? When should I moistrise, inadvance, or just before and after zapping?
Sorry so many questions, all this feels very exciting, but will probable be very ordinary when it starts.
Thanks love Sally
Hello and welcome to the thread/ I remember hearing about the R1 R2 creams and all of it was very positive.
Hello and welcome to the thread. Well the key as they have probably told you is to moisturise regularlly, drink plenty of fluids and listen to your body.
Hi x I started yeserday s will be going into December. I am two down and thirteen to go. I have been lucky in that my GP prescribed R1 and R2 cream so I am hoping that they do their magic x
I had my tatts done today ready for the first treatment on December 13th. All being well and all the calculations have been made. I have just 3 weeks of treatment I think but will be given a time table/callender after my first one. I have bin given a sexy blue gown to take with me for all the treatments, I love the velco opening sides! This is stage three of my treatments, so if this goes as easily as the others, I will start the new year with a bang not with a worrysquib.
Started a new monthly thread for those ladies who are continuing into December with your rads and also for the ladies who will be starting this month, you will get lots of help and support from the other ladies.
