Re: Mamogram shadow

Hi hbunny

Thanks for your post.

Having investigations for new breast changes is such a worrying and stressful time for you so it’s understandable you are concerned.

It’s not possible for us to say how likely this shadow is to be a local recurrence. It sounds like your medical team is very thorough and checking it out for you.

While most people have no further problems, sometimes breast cancer can come back.  However, the aim of treatment for primary breast cancer is to remove all the cancer and reduce the risk of it coming back in the future.

As you are so concerned, do call our free, confidential Helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The number is 0808 800 6000.

Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9am - 4pm and 9am -1pm on Saturday. Out of hours you can leave a message and we will call you back when we next open.

Please be aware that we will be closed on Monday 6 May due to the bank holiday.

We are currently reviewing our Forum service and wonder if you would have five to 10 minutes to complete a short survey. The survey will help us gather information about this service and understand more about any improvements we can make.

Best wishes
