Cannabis contains active ingredients called cannabinoids. Two of these are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).
THC is the chemical responsible for most of the psychoactive effects (those affecting the mind or behaviour) that occur with cannabis. Its use in the UK is illegal. CBD does not contain THC so does not cause these effects and is not illegal. It’s thought that CBD may have some health benefits such as helping with anxiety and an overall sense of well-being - but without the harms. Again there is not enough evidence to support this. However you may see CBD for sale online or in health and well-being shops in various forms including oil, cream, and sprays.
Ceebeedee- your friend would need to speak with her medical team before taking herbal or vitamin supplements.
Again Chelles speak to your medical team before taking any supplements or if there is anything in particular you are worried about. It might help to know that CBD is an anti-oxidant. Some studies suggest they may be beneficial, whereas others suggest that they may be harmful. Many specialists recommend avoiding them.

Hi there, I have a friend who was diagnosed lately with breast cancer, early stage. I am taking CBD Oil for my anxiety and emotional issues. I wanted to recommend CBD Oil to her but I'm just not sure if it could help her the way it does to me. Should I recommend it or not? If so, what dosage should I recommend?
