Sorry for the delay in response. Please see below for a reply from the Individual Giving team.
Thanks for your kind words and for saying what you felt disappointed by. Regarding the secondary breast cancer pin’s not being in the Christmas catalogue: it’s a challenge pulling it together and we had to exclude many products due to space constraints. Our guide was what would raise the most amount of money for our work, to make the greatest difference to people affected by breast cancer.
I’m glad to say that the secondary breast cancer pin (which can be purchased here http://shop.breastcancercare.org.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=453) or by phone on 0345 092 0821 is now a core part of our range, available permanently and all year round. Your feedback will be noted for future catalogues, where space allows, though they’re always a compromise and can’t include all we’d like.
And I’m sorry too you’ve had the impression we haven’t been talking about secondary breast cancer – it’s such an important part of our work and you may not have received some of the communications it’s central to, such as our campaigning activity this year: https://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/secondary. I’m glad to say it’s the topic for our most important appeal for donations of the year, the Christmas appeal, and both of our In touch newsletters this year discussed secondary breast cancer.
Your message has given me a new idea about another way we might be able to promote the secondary breast cancer pin all year round but before I promise it, let me check and I’ll come back to you. We’re in the middle of upgrading the online shop at last and something new just might be possible…!
Thanks very much for taking the trouble to raise your concern and I hope I’ve gone some way to addressing it.
I was so pleased to receive my BCC Christmas brochure this morning , as I want to order some cards and purchase some more secondary pins. I was shocked to discover the pins are not in the brochure. Some of you on here may remember the heated discussions to decide on the correct pin, but we got there i9n the end. But for what ? There is a pin for men , great , but I think statiscally there are more women with SBC
Sorry BCC , I think you do a wonderful job , but the pin should be in the brochure. Also I have not seen one article in any magazine promoting it. The only mention of SBC has been Peggy in Eastenders who committed suicide , a terrible story line and a missed oportunity. Sorry for the rant
