Joey and Meg have met their new cousin, a black lab pup called Elder (black elder - geddit?) 12 weeks old. Meg has been very protective as Aunt Meg, and ASBO Joey has shown Elder lots of naughty things to do.... so it's a good job we go home tomorrow. We've had walks, swimming in rivers, attacking the dragons (????) and lunch in pubs. All in all, good socialisation for a puppy. There are 3 knackered dogs on the carpet just now.....
Onc happy. She says she will look at all my scans just to be sure (PLEASE don't find anything of concern!! ) Blood tests show I'm post menopausal on 2 tests but still peri menopausal on the 3rd, so I'm staying on Ta'poxy'fen for at least another year. She mentioned swapping to an AI for 5 more years, or staying on Ta'poxy'fen for 10. When I said I was a little worried about the possible joint pain with AIs (but I was happy to try them and see what happened) she said I could just stay on Tamoxifen. She said we'll review it each year. I can, apparently, have a 'holiday from Tamoxifen for a couple of weeks' while I have my gallbladder op - to avoid the extra risk of a blood clot! Wow! Such treats??
That's BC back in its box for another 6 months - Hopefully! However, this morning, eating my cereal, I lost the filling off my back tooth and/or broke a bit more off it. It's not painful apart from the sharp edges catching my tongue. Dentist now booked for Wed after school. 3 medical appointments in 3 days. Jolly dee?!
Aah, Katy you know me too well. Of course I sat on the CBA bench, until I moved to the reading bench. I realised that if I shut the bedroom door then I wouldn't be able to see the mess but then I found that I can't actually SHUT the door because of all the STUFF in the way. Tomorrow......I WILL make a start tomorrow......promise! I have however shredded another load of papers and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom.
Hope your cold gets better quickly and also hope you have good weather in M. If not, at least you can do research into bad weather things to do in case we need them in August!
JCJ, pleased that you have felt better today, I hope it continues. Gardening and window cleaning. Another two things that I ought to be doing. I hope your appts. go well this week. Ask someone for better anti-sickness meds perhaps?
AW Katy. Watch out! Bucket full of sympathy coming your way! I hope your snot fest ends as quickly as mine did. Although, it seems to be back again today - just a bit.
I've actually managed some gardening AND cleaned most of the windows (the lazy way: with a sheepskin DooDah and a squeegee, like the professionals use for the outside - but with a bit less water!) today, without feeling sick - it's incredible how refreshing that rare occurrence is! Time to slump on the smug bench for half an hour until it's time to finish getting the roast dinner.
Woke up yesterday on the "my throat feels a little ouchy" then as the day progressed "how many times can I sneeze???" bench. Then onto "full snotty nose" bench so have copied you JCJ, obviously wanted the sympathy and attention...................
FF you get tidying or sit on the "CBA" bench pondering!
Didn't realise that brain has to catch up with eyes so that's good to know.
JCJ good luck with your appts fingers and toes crossed for you.
As I now have a new fangled phone will be able to post next week from M, hope we have sunshine!! xx
Ah, yes, forgot you're going to M with your GD on Monday. Definitely no camels there. Think they might be down my way as I've heard a lot of police sirens today! I was told that it can take a few days for your brain to "catch up" with the change in a glasses prescription. If they're not "right" in a week Katy, go back and complain.
So did I wake up full of enthusiasm for a good clearout? No... I didn't, I'm afraid the books just had to be read and tennis had to be watched. Maybe tomorrow........
I seem to have avoided all the rain and storms that were forecast. It did rain last night but nothing out of the ordinary and today has been sunny and warm. I have changed the bed and washed all the bed linen today and that has dried nicely on the line.
Good news re weeny GD, FF!
No, KTC, orange and pink are NOT a match, not even through orange glasses! I hope the weather improves drastically before Monday, or you'll see M as it usually is and realise how lucky we were for MMU1 & 2! Been p.ing it down here for the last 18 hours! Glad I did manage to plant up my garden tubs on Thursday, despite nausea.
I can't make up my mind whether to settle on the kn******* bench or fidget on the Jittery bench. Two hospital appointments next week, in 2 days. Monday's is with onc, so of course I have the biannual boob pain panics!
Glad GD is back to normal self FF, teething is horrible...........
Yes the camels will be with us for MMU3 but not with GD and me though knowing them I'm sure they will be hovering in the background somewhere just don't want them to be a bad influence on my GD, you know what they're like.........remember them hoofing it up and down the corridors in the middle of the night at MMU1????
What it's not a match????
Glasses taking a bit of getting used to, prescription changed drastically, oh the joys.
Went into pick up Lynn things and guess what nothing from docs as yet though they phoned chemist, I can't be bothered with it all, sort it out when I get back grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr xx
Oops, forgot to say smallest grandaughter is totally back to her usual smiley self. Thank goodness.
Hang on a minute Katy, what do you mean minus camels? I have it on very good authority that they are coming with us and have already booked their B & B. Thankfully they are not staying at the Travelodge! Whew!
Wow, glasses were quick, hope they are ok and that you don't have the problems that I did. I should have been more insistent on a new prescription earlier but hindsight is a wonderful thing! (Just to mention... luminous pink and orange don't actually match).
Weather is totally peculiar at the moment. Yesterday was so muggy it was horrible. Today they've said thunderstorms, torrential rain and flash floods. What we've got is muggy again, intermittent rain, every half hour or so large raindrops that last about 2 minutes and then it's fine again. A good thunderstorm would at least clear the air but I can do without any flooding.
TGIF. Looking forward to the weekend, no work, new books to read. BUT I have a spare bedroom that I can't get into as it is so chock-a-block with STUFF. I should/must do something about it. Hopefully I will wake up in the morning full of enthusiasm for a good clear out.
Aaaaaah JCJ, fingers crossed for some news soon so you can get some relief........
Great Eric is back, we will have our photo taken minus camels, cupcakes etc haha!
Glasses were due Sun but just had a phonecall and can pick them up today, woo hoo!!
Fourth day of sunshine here, geez can't believe it, painted my toenails luminous pink match my orange glasses!
JCJ you made the 9000th post on this thread, who would've thought, so a special salute to the Benchlanders xx
Is Eric back yet? Didn't he go off to be mended after vandals tried to steal him?
I've felt so nauseous today, again - and I can't blame it on overdoing the housework!! Won't be going swimming tonight, as that makes me feel sick even when I start off fine! I may go for a walk later, instead, as it's such a lovely day (and forecast to be a wet and cold weekend - of course, our Y6s are off on a residential activity weekend! - sooo glad I'm not going with them!!)
I would like to finish planting up my garden tubs, but bending makes the ickyness worse. Actually gave in and took an anti nausea tablet in school this afternoon. Didn't make any difference at all!
Yep sooooooooooo annoying when you make up your mind to buy something and shop doesn't have any grrrrrrrrr!
Well, well, after doing my massive tidy up felt so ill, that'll teach me haha!
Wonderfully glorious sunshine here, am off to M on Mon with GD, would be fabulous if weather stayed good, will show her our places, Rita's cafe, The Madlands and ofcourse Eric!
Hope your GD is fine FF xx
I needed a lie down after just reading what you have done today, Katy. Whew....something is doing it's thing! Orange glasses? Wow! Looking forward to seeing those at MMU3
GD is more herself today but still not 100%. As I am looking after her tomorrow am while daughter goes to Aquafit I hope she is back to her usual happy self.
Been to nearby town (40 mile round trip) today with daughter and GD to buy her (GD) some new clothes. She keeps growing out of the ones that she has! Thought I might buy some new undies at that famous seller of underwear but they didn't have my size in the ones that I wanted.
Yes you are brilliant JCJ snotty nose and all!
Great boost for you!
Hope GD is better today FF.
Well hair is cut, a little shorter than norm but I like it! New glasses ordered will get them on Sun, have gone a little funky and added ORANGE to the frames, made a very young guy stand for ages while I chose them, oh dear...........
Have gone totally mad today, hoovered, cleaned windows, lifted up things and dusted etc so everything spotless, had breakfast, went for a shower then had to go and lie down hahaha!!
The lido must be doing it's thing xx
Thought you would have gone to work JCJ even as I was saying I hoped you hadn't! Glad you are feeling better now. Fruit pastilles.....Yummy. You will be able to gorge on chocolate and ice cream after your op, so look forward to that day. Glad that your worth has been recognised in the classroom.
Haircut. Mop on head. Yes, that rings a bell. Had an appt. on the 14th May which I had to cancel and my hair is totally out of control now. I will leave myself a note to remind me to make another appt. Why do I now need to leave myself notes when I used to remember things?
GD still not quite herself but better today.
Feeling much improved now, thank you. The snot fountain has more-or-less finished and I'm not coughing very much now either. Got away lightly this time.
Of course I went to school, FF! We had spent last week b**ching about a colleague who is ALWAYS off sick straight after a holiday, and being very aware that I will need at least 3weeks off school, hopefully sometime soon, I didn't want to take the p!
Had an observed lesson today. I was very anxious, because the last one was pants, but this time they agreed how brilliant I am! I had to get petrol on the way home, so I scoured the garage for some little treat to celebrate (WANT ICE CREAM! WANT CHOCOLATE! ) All I could find that I could have/even remotely wanted was a packet of fruit pastilles. Ate the lot and now I feel a bit sick! Greedy pig?!
Ooh poor wee thing FF, you feel so sorry for them, so you'll now be talking ALL the time!
JCJ hope you are feeling better now........
grumpy are your pills still making a difference?
GS behaved very well he slept lots, ate lots, drooled lots and was kissed lots!
Going to have haircut today as I have a mop on my head at the moment, then off to opticians to have eyes tested, why does it always take sooooooooooooo long....................
Ordered new Lynn garments phoned doc's to make sure I get the right ones this time, the ones I have just now have a knitted top which is lovely and soft BUT it keeps slipping down my arm which is no use whatsoever, hopefully this time will get the right ones, fingers crossed xx
Today I have read the small print that came with the new phone. Turns out that I need to use it more to make it cheaper than the last phone. Shouldn't be difficult. It's just that little bit bigger than the last one which I didn't like at first but it still fits in my pocket. It makes it much more easy to text so I like it now. It's not as robust though so I shall have to be a little more careful with it.
Hope you are enjoying your time on the "baby" bench Katy and that they are not tiring you out too much. My newest GD is under the weather today, teeth we think, just whinging and wanting her Mum. Can't put her down, just wants to be cuddled by Mum, I was not a good enough substitute.
JCJ - I hope you didn't go to work today. If you are "cough cough cough sneeze", you should have been at home, not trying to carry on regardless. And I'm a fine one to talk as I go to work even if I have to crawl there (slight exaggeration!). Hope you feel better soon.
I've stayed in today and nothing has happened! So nice to have a quiet day.
Hope you feel better soon JCJ.
The Duchess had a day at the vet for dental refurbishment, so the ASBO Boy was VERY subdued all day - until he met his friend in the park for pointless running about, whereupon he managed to knock out one of his own teeth!! Blood everywhere.... but both are OK now.
Must sort out the garden, been putting it off for 3 days, just sitting on the can't be bothered bench instead.
The police now FF???? This has got to stop!
Ok so onto the sofa for you JCJ, hankies, low fat tasty things and the BELL..........
Away to be on the "busy with the baby" bench, ED and partner are off for a day, night out, well it'll keep me on my toes and no time for any mischief..............xx
Good grief FF! What will you do for an encore?
I'm on the snotty bench today. A pitfall of working with (xverminx) children. It's been aaaages since I last had a cold, so I suppose I shouldn't complain - but that doesn't stop me feeling sorry for myself! Sniff, wheeze, gasp, splutter, sigh. Repeat.
Today I seem to have frightened two policemen. I knew that I was stopping at the T-junction but maybe I was a little over the white line when I did. Police car coming down the main road swerved. I thought "oops" but carried on. Next thing I know I've got blue flashing lights behind me. I pulled over. "Do you have your driving license on you Madam?" "Yes" "We're just going to run a few checks". I watch enough "Road Wars" to know that they are checking the MOT, tax, and insurance. No problem there . So I got a small lecture on road safety which I took with surprising meekness. No point in antagonising the "boys in blue".
New phone is up and running, had difficulty fitting the SIM card but finally worked it out.
Gosh what you'll do for a muggatea FF???
You made me laugh and brilliant that you are not cracking up with all the disasters you have encountered over the last few weeks! Putting things in prospective, you're completely right.
Have been awake most of the night so going to sit on the "grumpy" bench for a while............sorry grumpy won't be sitting on you though!
Gale force winds and rain again xx
I have been firmly on the "what an idiot" bench today. "Whatever next?" Let me tell you a story........Friday's I clean for a lovely lady about 2 miles from my home. I leave my car locked on her drive. When I finish I load my stuff back into the boot, shut it, unlock the car and drive away. Not today..... today I managed to shut the keys inside the boot when I closed it!
Plan A.........driver's window was slightly open so I thought if I could manoeuvre a "stick" of some sort I could press the boot release button on the dashboard. Did that but it turns out that if car is locked the button won't work. I have a spare key for the car at home, then I realised that as my house key is also on the keyring I can't get in.
Plan B.........phone daughter, she has a key to my house. Thank goodness she was in, explained my predicament. She said she would come and get me but would be an hour or so and didn't have a clue where my spare key was. My lovely lady, she's 91 years young, offered to make me lunch while I waited. I declined but had two cups of tea! Daughter arrived to pick me up with every key that she could find in her house. The second one we tried opened my front door. (I had had visions of having to get a locksmith). Found my spare car key, went back and retrieved the car.
I can now laugh at my own stupidity but, for Heaven's sake, what else can go wrong?
Perhaps it is strange but none of my "calamities" has really bothered me. A while ago I would have been really annoyed but now they have just been nuisances to be fixed. A bc diagnosis puts everything into perspective and as long as I am fit and well.....so what?
I've got a new mobile phone. £15. I considered upgrading to an all singing all dancing one but then thought....Why? I only want to make the odd call and send the odd text so a basic one will do.
Geez FF what can I say??? You must be sitting on the "lucky white heather" bench............
JCJ hope you are feeling better today and the sickness tabs are working, fingers crossed you don't have to wait too long, this will be the first time you will get excited by a hospital letter.
We are having stinkin' weather gale force winds, sunshine and rain, fed up of it all!
Have just burnt a whole pot of potatoes, grrrrrrrrrrrrr, managed to salvage but a very bad pot to try and clean, thats what I get for talking too much.
Went into town today not for long, my whole body aches so off to sit on the "fed up of that too" bench xx
Wow! Summer seems to have arrived today! It's been gorgeous all day and I've only just shut the back door - at 10pm! - and that's not because it's cold but because I'm kn*****ed and feel very sick (again ) after swimming, so I've taken an anti-sickness pill and I'm going to bed. It was only 2 nights ago we were debating lighting the fire as it was so cold in the evening!
Watching the post every day for my operation date (figure that if the (2nd!) pre-op assessment is 15th June, the operation won't be THAT long after??!) I never get letters, apart from holiday advertising, but in the last 4 days, I've had: 2 letters about my new Online ISA, a new credit card, my P60 for 2014/2015 and a letter from the bank about new terms and conditions. Arrgghhh!
All quiet on the Benchland front..............
Have not been up to much either, bumped into a friend yesterday and he was telling me that he was at a Gourmet Night, few hours later ended up in hospital had taken a massive allergic reaction to fresh chilli s has had a catheter fitted for two weeks, geez you can't believe things like that!
Hope you are all fine xx
You're a mean girl JCJ!!
You may just be able to stay on ta"poxy"fen especially if you have hardly any side effects, that would be good xx
Hello Sonas66 - don't be shy! Everyone's welcome here - or did you write in that invisible Benchland ink?
I've just been to the hospital - AGAIN - for blood tests ahead of my Onc appointment in 2 week's time. I was given the bloods form at my last Onc appointment, LAST JUNE, are you impressed that I still had it AND could find it? I am! *adjusts halo*. Depending on the results of these blood tests, I MAY be switched from Tamoxifen to an AI - hopefully examatase (sp?), as that is the one recommended by the REACT trial and seems to have the least bad side effects. I've been mostly OK on Tapoxyfen so I'm a bit anxious about changing to something else - especially the stories of joint pain! However, I'll remember what Dr B said "Don't LOOK for side effects!"
Good news about the car - I hope it runs and runs with no further ptoblems now.
Hope the meds are continuing to improve things for you Grumpy.
Running KTC??? I wish I'd seen that!
That's really quick grumpy, you'll be soooooo pleased!!
Brilliant news about car FF!
All quiet here ran over to supermarket avoiding rain, woo hoo! Gale force winds here, it's like winter again..................!
Saw GS this morning and in 10 mins was wee'd on and sick on, good job I now have a working washing machine hee hee xx
Two days with the new meds and no boob pain, and much less joint pain, and nose problem is a bit better!!! RESULT!!!!
Been to select new van and it will be ready in a couple of weeks....
Thanks for hint about glitterberry juice, so it's not all doom and gloom.
Hope all the washing has been done - so that's just the ironing to do now.
Went to school this morning. Not too bad and now ready for Monday morning.
Son has got his car back and reports that it is now purring instead of clunking. He says it is much nicer to drive now and has requested a copy of the bill that will go to the dealer detailing all the new parts fitted and the work that has been done. I've obviously brought him up right as he was ahead of me on that one. We want everything documented just in case. Hopefully all will be ok now with no further problems.
Firmly on the tennis bench today, yay go Andy. Don't think he'll win but hoping he gets to the semis.
Norecambe, The Madlands, Benchland by the Sea, The Benchlanders, aaah such fond memories!
FF running around in JUST a t shirt???????????? No head spinning then??!
Yes JCJ, I'll also do your washing. Just pop it in the tardis.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm Bakewell Tarts yumyum, so glad you had a lovely break, with no ill effects!
Staying on the "CBA" bench today, all day xx
Just jumped onto the "smug" bench after reading your weather reports. Glorious weather down here, blue skies and sunshine. I don't know what the temperature is but I'm only wearing a t-shirt. NO, no..... I don't mean I'm ONLY wearing a t-shirt I have on other clothes as well!!! I mean a jumper/cardi is not required.
Found myself firmly fixed to the CBA bench this afternoon. Debated with myself about going to school but the bench won. I will therefore be going to school tomorrow morning!
Glad your GP came up trumps Grumpy. Hope the drugs do their job and that you will be painfree shortly.
Katy - you are right about son's car. When he finally gets it back it will be worth all the inconvenience to know that he has a car that should be ok for a long time. When son collects it, he is going to ask the price of the repairs, we are curious.
Send the washing JCJ, only too happy to do it for you. I don't do ironing though!
Forgot to say: There's a lovely park by the river in Bakewell. It has nearly as many benches as Benchland-by-the-sea (otherwise known as Norecambe, amongst other things! ) I saw them all and couldn't help smiling as I thought of you all.
Yipee! So much to celebrate in Benchland. FF and/or KTC do you fancy doing my washing for me as we've come back from the Peak District with loads and I CBA.
I managed to stick to my diet - although walking around Bakewell today was torture: so many delicious smells: pizzas, fish & chips, pasties , Bakewell puddings, to name but a few. Every 50 yards there was someone eating something I couldn't have. We went back to the car (too cold and wet to eat outside) and ate our picnic. Avoiding temptation is easy, though, when I remember the *pain* I was in at Easter. I'm so frightened of feeling like that again, that I daren't take any risks.
Grumpy, I'm glad you've finally got some meds to deal with your pain. OH sometimes has a drink - only a half pint or 2, or a small glass of port - despite his Amitryptiline, without any I'll effect, so the odd glitterberry juice, occasionally, probably shouldn't do you any harm?
I hope the teachers didn't leave too much mess, FF?
I'm firmly on the tennis bench now - we couldn't watch in the cottage as the TV didn't have ITV4
Woo hoo still somersaulting around, have washed everything in sight whether it needed washed or not haha!!
Good news then grumpy, hopefully things will settle soon, yes pain is very wearing. Great you have new van too things are on the up!
FF, if son's car is fitted with all the parts, it will be as you said a basically new car so even though it's been awful for them it may in a funny way be worth it!
Have to go out soooooo will need to try and avoid the rain, over the last few days it's been like winter again, brrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Jumped onto the "grrrrrrrr" bench earlier, spilt bleach on my new trousers...................xx
HURRAY - GP came up trumps. Got amitryptiline for boob pain, referral to rheumatologist for joint paint and card for walk in X ray for nose and sinuses. Now feeling more hopeful, just need to separate out the various pains and manage them. Amitryptiline MAY ease joint pain as well. I never before realised how wearing constant pain can be, even low level pain. Got to go back in 3 weeks for review, x Ray and mammo results. Here's hoping no more trips to clinic will be required so I can get on with post BC life.
And new stepwagon is ready........ so I can get it to the converter shop for its bits and pieces. Already got the fabric for the curtains (from Oxfam) and all the camping gear stacked up in the front hall to be sorted ext. Exciting, holidays nearly here!!!!!
Weather absolutely naff, washed winter jumpers yesterday which was a bit of a mistake, wearing 3 layers today to compensate.
Oh dear just read leaflet GLITTERBERRY JUICE NOT ALLOWED. So that's a trip to the shops for interesting soft drinks.
Dogs to vet tomorrow for boosters, more expense so no new clothes this month.
Love to all
So pleased that your washing machine is finally fixed Katy. It's been a looooong time waiting for you and such an inconvenience. Saw you doing the somersaults and wondered why. My new washing machine has arrived and been installed. I have read the instruction manual and it seems to be fairly easy to operate. It has a 15 minute quick wash that I think willl be very useful.
Son's car won't be ready until Saturday. Yet another part needs to be replaced. It will be a new car when finally finished!
Glad you are enjoying your holiday JCJ, resisting temptation is not easy, so well done to you.
After a very lazy week, tomorrow will be busy, lots of work to do, must go to school and make sure that it is ready for the new half-term. Don't know what I will find there, teachers may well have been in and made a complete mess of it! Having days off sometimes results in more work!
Pssssssssssst, there's an odd noise coming from my kitchen............the washing machine is FIXED!!!!!
Have been somersaulting around Benchland for the last half hour, woo hoo, scooby/booby doo! Did I win???
JCJ, that's brilliant that you are actually enjoying this holiday!
FF, hopefully son's car is sorted asap, what's wrong with things nowadays that everything takes so long?
Sat on my glasses last night, grrrrrrrrrrr so will have to go to opticians tomorrow!
More good news GD's team won their Sport's Day she is sooooooooooo excited xx
I seem to remember that you said the lido hadn't made any difference at first, last time, Katy? Then suddenly you felt better. Or maybe it's me losing marbles?
I am impressed with myself, so far, this holiday. Resisted all temptations, eaten only food prepared by me, and I feel OK - well as OK as I ever do at the moment! We had a walk into Buxton yesterday, ate a picnic in the Pavilion gardens followed by a cup of tea sitting outside. In the evening, After walking back to the cottage for a quick meal, (Got back justvas it started to rain!) we drove back to The Opera House to see Jodie Prenger in Calamity Jane. "Oh the Deadwood stage is rocking on into town.......Whip crack away, whip crack awaaaay" It was quite expensive but absolutely worth it. Such talented actors! They all sang and danced well and played at least 2 instruments - sometimes all at once!! Not a patch on Benchland performances though, because they weren't on ice!
Got to get off this CBA bench to have a shower and get dressed before our last full day here has gone.
