Okay op date confirmed for 18 September. Now it is real xx
Oh dear Dizzy, anxious times. My first check after treatment came in 6 days, this time it took nearly 3 weeks, I was climbing the walls convinced there was something wrong. Can never secondguess these things. The waiting is just awful.
All ready waiting for a lovely friend to pick me up. Off for a walk along the river in Marlow then lunch there. Really looking forward to as ages since I saw her. Not sure when, but must have been months ago as I can remember us eating our lunch in front of a roaring log fire, don’t think we will be today, it’s scorching hot already. She was the boss’s PA in my lady job and we had desks opposite each other and we used to keep each other sane muttering rude things to that one one else could hear when things got too stress. At first glance we looked like two respectable middle aged women but loved shocking the youngsters in the office. I would say, oh happy days but being retired is much better.
Blessed day (Haidmaid fans will get that) xx
The first mammogram I ever had, I wondered why people talk about it being uncomfortable and squishy, mine was just fine. So I assumed everything would be okay. That was Monday, on the Thursday, they rang up to say there was a problem and they'd made me an apointment to come in next day. And when I went and they showed me the mammogram, it showed a huge white mass right across the middle which they described as "very worrying". And yep, I was very worried you could say.
So they redid the mammogram, and this time I got squished good and proper. And all that solid white had disappeared and it was fine. It turned out that on the first plate they'd sort of got two layers of tissue, sort of a fold, which looked like tumour tissue because it showed up dense and white. So now while I'm being squished I know there's a good reason for it, dodgy images can give false positives.
When I had the next recall, for the cancer, I didn't get a letter for two weeks, so I assumed it must be okay because I knew they phoned people up really quickly when they were worried. So it was a real shock to get a recall after two weeks, and now I don't assume that no news is good news.
Colin is doing much better, he is especially doing well with his walker so much so that another one is being delivered tomorrow so that he has one for upstairs and downstairs, now just need him to get his head around having a stairlift and life will be so much easier for him. He unfortunately has had an attack og gout which has caused him problems for the last couple of days but seems to be getting over that as well now.
I am so glad that I am off this week as the effects of the last couple of weeks has really started to tell on me. I have done absolutely nothing the last two days but sit and do my cross stitch. Went out for a meal with a couple of friends tonight and it was lovely just to chill with them.
How are you doing? xxx
I think OH needs to be wrapped in cotton wool and put in a protective bubble, blimey I thought I was accident prone
thankfully it is a lot cooler here than it has been for several weeks. We actually had a bew drops of rain last night, never thought I would be excited about rain xxx
Dizzy, no news is good news so they say. I was told I’d get the results in 2-3 weeks. I waited until 2 days before the 3 week cut off. My mind was in overdrive, oh, must be something found so they’ve sent it to the appointments desk, that’s why it’s taking so long etc, then it came, all clear. It’s an awful time waiting for the postman. Will be checking on here everyday waiting for you to say, it’s arrived, all ok. Had an email from an old friend who moved away from the area about 10years ago, she was diagnosed a year before me. This year she got a call back, shock horror. Her, husband and children all went into panic mode. All turned ok, just not good enough pics on mammogram, phew.... so even a call back is not necessarily bad news. Will file thst away for future reference.
Today was cooler but still flipping hot. Would have revelled in it if I hadn’t had to come off hrt, now they’re saying back up to 30degrees next couple of days so got all my chillows, ice packs, and mattress coolers lined up in plastic bags ready for the freezer. So wish I had an outside swimming pool, not that I’ve got an inside one in case anyone is thinking thst xx
Lee, it's lovely to hear from you, I often wonder how things are going for you. I guess winter is maybe a good time to lose your hair, everyone else is wearing beanies too. And the thought of it in the summer is making me hot and itchy just thinking about it. Though I guess our summers are nothing like yours anyway, we are so not used to this. I guess no one swans through chemo, but each lot is one closer to the end.
Lesley, your poor OH has no luck does he? But he doesn't sound the type to take things carefully so I don't suppose you'd get anywhere trying to wrap him up in cotton wool.
I'm practicing my inner Zen, they said I could phone up for my mammogram results, but I thought I'd just wait for the letter to come, sometime in the next week I guess. So I'm definitely not thinking about it...
very wuiet on her lately, guess every is either enjoying the hot weather or trying to keep cool. They keep promising rain but none in our corner of the country so far.
Lee, you are a trooper! You sound so upbeat and positive even though though going through such a tough time. Well. You’re a third of the way through now so hang on in there. Sendin* hugs to you down under xx
As usual himself has been causing me grief. Really bad fall in town Saturday. Someone called an ambulance but he made them call and cancel it. Got home and i cleaned him up and bandaged him. Sunday morning i insisted he go to minor injuries at local hospital. They put him in an ambulance to hospital 45 minutes away for emergency brain scan as they were worried he had a bleed on the brain. Thankfully not. Umpteen other checks, X-rays, ecg etc redid my dressings and course of antibiotics anD discharged. His face is a right mess. We popped out earlier and everytime some e looked st him I said, thst will teach him for answering me back. I got some strange looks.
Had my nails done and sitting next to me getting hers done with my breast care nurse. Only time I saw her was the day I was told the news. Every time I phoned and left a message on of her colleagues called me back, was not impressed with her at all, still thankfully that’s all behind me xx
Hiya mate, lovely to hear from you. You are such an inspiration to us all with everything you have been through in the last couple of years, it will not be long before you are the other side of all your treatment. It is good to hear that your work are being so supportive, it makes such a difference.
Well we have just had the hottest spell of weather we have known for a very long time, thankfully the temperatures are cooler and more the norm for our summer. It is funny I was bowling against a lady who comes from Austrailia, it was teh evening and still around 25 degrees, she had got a thermal vest on and was saying how cold she was, the rest of us were wilting and taking on as much water as possible.
Sending you hugs xxxx
Hi, it's been loving having a read and a catchup with you all.
I had my op, 26 lymph nodes were taken from under my arm and 8 had cancer. I had my second dose of chemo last Friday (I will have 6, one every three weeks, then a four week break, then 3 weeks targeted radiotherapy under my arm, same side as the first breast cancer thank god).
I started losing my hair two weeks and one day after the first treatment so happily shaved it off myself the night before the second dose. Now everytime I get a hot flush I take off my beanie and it cools me down - it is winter here and everyone is complaining because it is bloody freezing, to us anyway haha.
The ups and downs of side effects, worry, fatigue, insomnia and weird food cravings (nothing tastes quite right) are tolerable this time. First treatment my body went into a shock on day four and I ended up on the floor of the shower thinking, bugger, not going to swan through this one.
Work has been good and are letting me do extra hours in my good weeks to make up for the bad week as I don't have any sick leave left.
Sending love and hugs across the sea.
Sorry I have not been around for a good few days, Colin has been bedridden for the last 14 days the heat has really affected him, so I have been looking after him more than usual, thankfully it is a lot cooler and he has been able to get downstairs.
Had my pre op assessment yesterday and will be booked in to have my hysterectomy some time in September, I was asked when I wanted to have it as I am not "targeted" so presumably they do not believe it to be anything sinister, I will need that time to sort home and work out before I go off.
Hope everyone is feeling better now that the heat has decreased and it looks as if we are forcast some rain tomorrow, great just in time for me to get my hair cut tomorrow evening and the start of my week off
Love and hugs to you all xxxx
Hello you gorgeous lot,
Havent been on for a while but not forgotten you, honest. It’s been a pretty hectic time. My sister has a pretty nasty health scare going on at the moment. Mri scan booked next week followed up with appointment with gnae consultant. Surgery def on the cards but hoping it’s just that and not lots of nasty treatment too. Just back from a couple of days in Dorset keeping my friend company looking after her grandchildren while her daughter who has serious health issues to deal with is trying to sort things out as ex is trying snatch children. Honestly, my life is bliss compared to what Ive witnissed others dealing with recently.
I have a chest infection at the moment but on antibiotics so they’ll soon kick it’s a***.
Delly, lovely to see you on here again. Himself though suffering from this never ending heat is trying to claim back his garden. No chance it’s MINE now as long as I don5 have to cut the grass and due to the never ending blazing sun we don’t have any, just straw.
Right, time to start getting the beer and vino ready for the football. I hate football normally but I am patriotic so will be watching tonight xx
Hellooooo, lovely Fluffs
Darlin-Dizz - Boo hiss on the bad weather flight cancellation - can't believe. But how exciting to go by helicopter instead. Hope you've had a wonderful break. Look forward to hearing about it. Also hope your allotment hasn't suffered too much. but the gardeners on here sound to be struggling without hoses.
Janey - Ooooo flower, I'm just watching Julia Bradbury's Golden Cap walk and thinking about/connecting with you. With beautiful views, thoughts and memories of Charmouth and Westbay. Hope you and all your family are well, lovey.
Rubes - Hello darlin. You're very quiet of late with posting, which is very unusual for you. So I'm guessing you're not very good at the mo'. Popped in on the "Need a Hug . ." thread, which confirmed that you're struggling with joint probs. Awww flip, flower. As usual, I've really enjoyed your wonderfully fab, cutchy and funny piccies on my catch up. You bring such colour and cheer to this forum, not just with your pics. How are you doing ??
Just exchanged emails with BethyBoo. She's just had a recent check up. Is VERY well, health wise, and really enjoying her work, so VERY happy work wise. Mum's in hopsital again, with another bout of pneumonia, so is hospitalised . . . yet again.
Lesley-Lush, I had to giggle on your comment that your getting possessive about the garden, since hubby's been ill. Is he any better?
S'all for now folks. Those of you who aren't very well - hope you get better soon. Those of you who are well - hope you keep well.
Loadsa loveydovey xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Yes, Dizzy is in the Scillies, last day tomorrow. And we've had some lovely weather for it too, except for the day we were due to fly out, trust us to book on the only day of bad weather this whole summer, all flights cancelled. So we had to come by helicopter the next day, which wasn't part of the plan. But I'm wondering if anything at the allotment has survived, I hear it's even hotter at home.
Phew, I'm so glad you took it in the naughty, light way it was meant, flower.
Awww to Jillywilly and your tum xxx
I read back over my posts ocassionally and sometimes feel someone else has written them! It's that little demon, not me !! Honest guvnors.
Claireee - I can't believe you're still having such probs at work, your poor girl. When you say you "got seriously hurt, yesterday", do you mean physically hurt, or mentally. What happened?? Please will you let us know, if you can? Awwww, Clair, sweetie, I'm sooo glad you've voiced your upset, shared it with us and others. I do hope with a few days, you'll feel better and calmer again after this recent knock back, and can get back on a more positive track again, and that that's all it'll take. Yeh, perhaps your Mondays apptmnt will also help. Afraid I'm a fellow miz on this time of year too. Used to love Summer, until menopause and hot flushes kicked in. Used to like to sunbathe, to get bronzed too. Don't bother anymore. Plus the skin on my part reconned boobs is so thin and dellycat (spelling meant!), I have to be careful with. Though I could do to get more sun for the Vit D reasons.
Yep, went to feed the birdies again. Perhaps that should be Delly Oddie (yes, very oddie, suits me well, haha hee), as oppo Attenborough. Swans had moved back to their previous nesting area again. Popped in the car to the local Coop and picked up some reduced little gem lettuces to shred for them tomorrow. Is another item listed on their none bread menu. Had a giggle with a couple in the shop - he was shopping for food, she was just wanting to know where the wine was - "Women and our priorities", said I!! (something I know Lesley-Lush very much relates to). Had more giggles with other women in the till line and the lady at the till, due to me spying and picking up some bags of "protein BALLS" on a nearby display. My images of and comments about, men now being "farmed" like chickens to produce them came out. Lots of fellow female chortles. Yeh, I know, it was that little devil again and the fact I'm totally incorrigible !!!!!
You all know I'm no gardener, but I've meant to say, I've had a bumper crop of blooms on one of my climbing roses, left untouched from pruning for a few years in my "jungle". It's been literally dripping with them this Summer. An "Albertine" (an old strain, named after Prince Albert)), I planted back in 2007 when refurbing this house to sell, and got carried away with planting out the garden, never thinking I'd ever be living here, but perhaps secretly hoping. Has bright coral coloured buds, that open into light peach flesh coloured flowers. My Mum had one in her garden and I'd always admired it so much, so it's a lovely memory of and to her. It has the most beeeautiful perfume that seems to become stronger in the evenings, and has even been wafting in through my open bedroom window this year. Mmm, lovely.
I cut a large posey of buds n blooms, to take round for Audrey, my 85 yr old neighbour, who said the same thing of. That her whole lounge was full of the perfume in the morning when she first opened the door, after being enclosed all night.
I'm going now. I've noted BethyBoo still hasn't been on. I'll send her another email to ask how she is doing. Are you okay Charys? Haven't noticed you for a while either, but perhaps my catch up hasn't extended far enough back. Hoping all the rest of you are well.
Loadsa love, Dellywelly xxxxxxxxxxxx
Honestly I did not take offence and you did not upset me at all. In fact I giggled at the thought of me in a bikini at my time of life, do they do big pant bikini bottoms, not a pretty sight Please please do not worry my darling.
Loadsa love back at you xxxxx
You go girl, totally unacceptable the way you have been let down and treated.
And no going back too soon either lady!!
If I remember correctly he was promoting the use of progesterone for men obviously nothing to do with BC. It just felt wrong and totally inappropriate xx
Hi Lady H.
Am still not understanding why Dr Sander's post was inappropriate, as the title of this thread is "Progesterone . . . " Am I being thick or something?
Thanks for educating me on your "Lawn Green" bowls . Sorry Col's still suffering, and sorry your op's been delayed to Sept. xxx
The DrSaunders post was an inappropriate post for here so I reported it xx
Sorry I didnt see your post, I was out bowling in a league match last night. I play lawn green bowls, which is the up and down one that you referred to earlier, our green does not have a crown on it and we wear white trousers during the day, after 6pm we re allowed to wear grey trousers.
Colin is still suffering hopefully the weather will break some time soon and he will get relief, he has the fan on 24/7 at the moment to try and keep his core temperature down.
Well it looks as if my op will be some time in September as I need to hve a pre op first and then I will be booked in to my consultants list, but she reckons it will be about 8 weeks, gives me plenty of time to sort stuff out at home etc.,
Jak60 - Awwww, I've managed to trap all your trapped "wind", dear lady. Filled a balloon with, and am currently sailing through the air, but hoping no-one lights a flame!! Hope you're doing well too, with what you've been through on the BC and all else front
Well last nights peas weren't very well received on the birdy front, down at the small lake (rather than pond). It was 7 ish, so praps bedtime. What few came to taste weren't impressed. So went earlier tonight - 5 ish. Different kettle of peas (as oppo fish!) Gobble gobbled. Could have done with more!!
The female swan's decided to up nest today, from across the lake, and move it nearer to the public feeding point. Watched her for a while, pulling up grass to make her new nest. Don't know if she's been bothered by foxes or something else at her other site, (ME perhaps? Mmmm, wouldn't surprise me, haha!) and don't know if it's a good idea to move it so close to the public area. I was protectively pecked on the shins by her through the fencing posts yesterday, when I threw peas to her cygnets. No harm done - just comical. Very glad I had trousers on though!!
Saw two water voles too, treading on the dried up area. Have to throw a handful of peas to them too tomorrow.
Shall report back. Keep well all you lovely fluffs.
Lotsa love, Delly Attenborough!! xxxxxxxxxxx
Hello lovely Grills
Dr Sanders - Very interesting post on Progesterone, thanks.
Have I missed something girls? Has someone's husband been having side effects from a lack of? Or was Dr Sanders post just based on the title of this thread?
LesleyLush - I hope you're over your Summer cold. Obviously not taking enough medicine (the "hic" stuff). How's Mr Lesley doing now?
Lady H - Hows Col? Any better? You haven't answered my bowling question.Read that you're still waiting on your gynae op, probably August you say. So you now need to go out and get a "bikini" for your post op. What? I wasn't being insensitive to H's op girls. Helena needs to show off that her bikinin scar is just that, beneath her bikini line, don't you all think. Yey! - Watch out other page 3 girls!! Sorry it's cocked up your bowling - knowing how much you love it, so it must be very frustrating for you.
Darlin-Dizz - Have you had your results from your mammo? I've always wanted to go to the Scillies too. When are you off?
Clairee - Oh, I've just been reading on your hubbies enlarged heart scare. You poor loves, what a fright. Glad he's okay and glad to hear YOU are doing better. When do you break up for Summer hols? Did you decide to cut your hours back more in the end?
Ann-m - Hows your hubby's knee? I nursed my Mum through two knee replacements at 71, 3 months apart. I used to lie on her bed every morning, going through her exercises with her, to encourage her and make sure she did them, as she could be a bit lazy. Did ME some good at the same time as well. So yeh, it took less than 3 months to recover from the first. Amazing really. Be a gently bossy task mistress. All helps. Hope you're well yourself.
Jobes - A very belated 50th - you youngster!!! Hope you celebrated your special birthday in style. Hows that beautiful g'daughter of yours? Do they live close by?
Rosietd - Good to see you. I'm an ally on the football dislike front. Hope you're well, are you?
Mcnulcc (Chris) - Hi, welcome and how lovely to see you on here to impart your gynae experience. But gather you've also had boob probs, with you saying you're having ops "higher up the body". I'm so sorry to hear that. I do hope you're doing well. Don't know what your BC experience is/has been, but I noted your posts on "The things people say". Perhaps you could fill us in if you feel up to, so we know better? I'd certainly like to know.
Alibobs - Understand you too have had a birthday. So Happpy Birthday, whatever the number. Noted you too on "The things people say". Perhaps your colleagues were just trying to be cheery! Trying to make light of something so serious?
Sorry for all the ?? girls. It's because I'm so behind (bums!) - Would prefer to be in front (boobs!!), much nicer area of the body!!!
See you in a bit, on a less questioning post.
Loadsa lovey dovey xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Got it, yep I have been warned about it, and I think I might be sleeping in the other room for a while!! Dont know whether Colin will be able to cope with that
Hi again Fluffilusciouslies
I hope you're all doing well. Still haven't caught up properly.
Lady H - Ha ha. So what is your type of bowling called?
Janey - I forgot to ask how's your daughter ? Is she fully recovered now?
Lee - I noted news of your ops. I hope you too are recovered and coping. I'm guessing you've started chemo by now, have you?
I'm just off to the park (just round the corner) for a gentle walk on another lovely evening, now that it's cooler. Phew. How long's this spell going to last I wonder. There's a lovely large pond with loads of birdies. Felt such a fraud when I went last week, as they all came over expecting food and I had none, they guilted me into coming back home and getting some. So I've been a few times since. Not just any old food though. They have a special menu notice up - no bread, but seedless grapes!!, cooked rice, peas, corn, bird food, oatmeal. I got chatting to a few people (as I do) and apparently this warm weather spell dried up the stream feeding the pond, the water turned stagnant and the eight huge carp residents that were introduced 20 odd years ago died because of. So they've installed two giant aerators, that run constantly, and banned bread. It seems to be the general thought now, not to feed birds bread. Fills them up, but not nourishing enough. They're having peas tonight.
I'm finding it very therapeutic, in the connecting with some wildlife bird sense (no, not the bowler wildlife!, though it's nice to chat), and they're so comical to watch when they stick their bums in the air (yes, some of the bowlers too! hee hee). Plus I desperately need the fresh air and exercise.
Very quiet on here - perhaps you're all out doing your watering can lifting exercises. That's all for now folks. I'll keep having a catch up read.
Lots of love to everyone. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thats the one I do going up and down the same way, thats proper bowls x
Hello lovely fluffy ones. Delly, great to see you back, but so sorry you've been having a tough time. Lesley, you need a break methinks. I'm getting "guns" from all the watering can lifting every night. I shouldn't complain though, as we had a huge amount of rain yesterday, apparently, so I came back from a weekend away today and set to with a fork and trowel clearing out the triffid weeds and then harvesting - yep you guessed it, cucumbers!
Sorry, I've been off line a bit. I think we've all had a bit too much going on the last few months reading all these posts and I was thinking how we all seem to be getting stronger, even though the knocks keep happening. I did a long haul trip to see a poorly Dad this weekend in Essex and know I wouldn't have managed the drive a year ago. that said, I'm shattered now and catching up with a bit of Monty Don Gardeners' World on iplayer and having a lovely cuppa.
Love to all and I hope other halves are on the mend as I type xx
Oooooh Lovely Fluffs. How much I've missed youhoo's. Had self probs (mental head state - need decapitating! ) and b/band probs, so didn't get sorted for ages. B/bands sorted, but am still waiting for head replacement
Hope Col and Lesley's hub recover soooon.
Darlin-Dizzy - Fingers crossed for your mamm results to be good.
Am way behind on yers, so need to have a read.
Love you all loads and loads
It's good to know himself is on the mend, but goodness you've had a time of it. I hope you feel better soon and he stays well for a while, you could do with a break.
I had my mammogram this morning, definitely very ouchy. Last year it was fine, but this year she was very heavy handed, and I now have two operated boobs to feel it. But it's good to get it out of the way. And no ultrasound this year, last year they gave me heart failure when they called me back in and said the radiologist wanted one. The films were being read on the spot because the surgeon was waiting for the results to book me in.
Well we had weather warnings yesterday for thunderstorms and heavy rain, but in the event we had a quick shower, not enough to do much good for my poor grass. And now we seem to be back to wall to wall sunshine, this has been a strange year.
Been ages since I’ve bedn on here. So much been happening. Himself has been laid low with yet another chest/lung infection though thankfully on the mend now, plus other stuff I won’t bore you with. It’s so flipping hot, no rain for I don’t know how long, both lawns are straw and watering the plants every night is exhausting. Gone down with a summer cold, went all winter without one, now in this tropical heat, sore throat, temperature, aches pains and cough. Feeling a bit better today thank goodness as I’m going to a friends birthday lunch to be held in her new revamped garden.
From reading your last comment Lady H I see Colin is not having a good time. Hoping he improves soon, being in bed in this heat must be awful, bad enough at night with fan on full blast. Stil, we always moan whatever the weather, it’s the law if you’re British.
Hoping all you other gorgeous Willows are ok xx
He does look better than yesterday and he said just that he is feeling better, I think it will be a couple of days yet before he will be getting out of bed though, which to be honest is not a bad thing. He said when he was sitting up yesterday to eat his dinner it was as if he was on an old bus which was shaking from side to side, his balance even sitting was affected.
It is still very hot here, windy and a little overcast but no rain, it is extremely humid as well and they forcasting that it is not going to get below 18 overnight either so a very unpleasant night ahead.
Helena, I hope Colin is more comfortable today. We have a breezy, overcast day, but so far only a few drops of rain. It's definitely cooler than it was. But where is the rain when you want it?.!!
I know, the verge outside is strawlike, I have managed to keep the lawns okay at the moment but they are asking us to avoid using hoses as much as possible.
I saw that on the news earlier it looks as if you are going to get a good downpour. I wish we could have some here as it might cool things done, Colin is really suffering as the heat has now built up on him and his balance is very bad, he has spent the day in bed today, thank goodness as he has been fighting it so much over the last week.
We still have a very strong breeze, I can't put the parasol up. And yesterday was very windy. But I've got a few outside jobs done today, so now I'm putting my feet up in the shade. We have weather warnings for heavy rain tomorrow, the lawn is desperate for it, it's mostly straw coloured.
We had the winds quite strongly yesterday but they appear to have easedtoday. It is very warm at the moment.
I know what you mean we have had the fan on in the evening as it is just too hot and that is with the doors open as well, but there does come a time when you have to decide when to close them, mind you they would probably be attracted by the light of the TV anyway never mind having the light on.
Off to sit on the patio before it gets too hot xxx
