Hello lovelies, just checked in, thank you for birthday greetings, but mine is not until tomorrow, is it Dizzys today? If so many happy returns of the day, hope you’re having a lovely day xx
Its been quiet on here lately, hopefully everyone is moving on in a good way. Had my last acupuncture session this am, think it’s helping with migraines as touch wood not had one for couple of months though still getting the daily chronic headache. My self diagnosed plantar fasciitis is apparently not! Doc says it’s Achilles tendonitis, on anti inflamotries for a month but acupuncture this morning really helped
Well done with the win Lady H, and congrats with the nomination Sue. How we’ve all coped and flourished in The last couple of years is amazing. I rewatched The Calendar Girls on Sunday afternoon, maybe us lot should do a 2019 ccalender to inspire newly diagnosed ladies, Delly what do you think? Xx
Thank you all for your lovely words, it means so much to me, it was a match that I really wanted to win as it is a bit of a needle match with local opposition, especially as it is the only final I am in this year.
Alibobs - yep RESPECT to your late mum as well, she will certainly know that feeling.
Evenign lovely fluffie
Wanted to share with you all played in the district bowls triples semi finals tonight and we won, so we are in the finals, it was a tough match and we finished in the almost dark at 9pm. So proud of my team the only final I am in this year as I came out of all my singles matches as I did not know when I would be having my hysterectomy xx
Goodness, Sue, you have been busy & brill about being up for an award!
Good also to hear that the op went well - Onwards & upwards!!!
Hello lovely to hear from you and great to read that you are doing so well xx
great to see you are still about and that you are coping with all that life has to throw at us, .lol.
I still support some ladies in the Private groups, so I have not gone away completely!
I am now in the last stages of my recovery, having had re-construction surgery on 2nd August. All is healing well (oh the itching!!!) and I have a beautiful new boob to match my other one!
Tamoxifen is being kind to me - after having counselling for my severe PTSD earlier this year, the hot flushes and fatigue improved a lot. And, apart from the very hot weather, the hot flushes are far less and very manageable.
So, I am happy to report that I can put all behind me now and truly start to move forward...
Lol - and I have become a local celebrity, too!
Everything now seems possible again - and I doubt, that without the challenges of the past two years I would have got where I am now.
Hugs to all
Sorry I am catching up on a lot of stuff. The stairlift is a complete success in fact I was upstairs putting the new chair for the study together and the next minute I heard the stiarlift going and before I knew it, Colin had come up to see how I was getting on, he could never have done that before
Ok and confession i put the ironing on it today and sent it upstairs, trouble was there was no one at the top to put it away so I had to walk up and sort it xxxx
Evening all, just popping in quickly to say hello, and hope you're all enjoying the cooler weather. Though we haven't had the really high temperatures for quite a while, only mid 20s, but the nights were very sticky.
Now all I want is some rain please, we still haven't had any and the garden is desperate.
Rubycat, loved the picture as ever. Hope your hands are getting better.
Helena, between the stairlift and the cooler weather, I hope Colin is a lot more comfortable.
Another cracker Rubycst, love it.
Delly, you’re not the only one Ive heard mouthing off about that James Martin programme and the disgusting fried butter balls and other muck he served up. What were the producers thinking of?
So at last this extreme heat is supposed to be coming to an end tomorrow, still temperatures of between 23-25 forecasted which is just right, fed up of 30+ week after week and I usually love this heat but this is too much, no air and so humid at night especially when I’m getting hot flushes on top. Expect I’ll soon be moaning that it’s too cold.
Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and have been managing to stay cool though I think it’s only the south east corner that’s been having extreme heat, know my sister is Wales says it’s lovely there, just right, mid 20’s with a nice breeze xx
Hi Rubes and Charys, Good to see you both on for a quickie. You too Alibobs.
Oh Rubes, I've understandably sooo missed your pics. Another cracker. But I'm so sorry you're having such a horrible time with your hands, wrists and knee.
Had to go back and edit my rant on James Martin. Went off on one, sorry James and girlies.
Lotsa love to everyone xxxxxxx
LadyH, I need to dob Col-pots in because whilst you were not looking he modified his stairlift! xxx
I wondered who that was using it I used ti last night to see what it was like, a bit weird coz it goes slow then speeds up and then slows down again, strange sensation xxxx
And some xx. He used it last night, ok all in all it took a half hour for him to get into bed with a little help from me, but when you think he has not moved out of the chair in the lounge for over a week, it was more about him getting his legs working again, considering it was taking over 2/3 hours it can only get better. The lift itself takes 40 seconds to go up and down, the rest of time was him getting to and from it .
Weeeeeee !!!! - I've just come down Colin and Helena's stair lift. Hang on - Whooooooop - that's me going 'up' !!! Corr, it's absobloominlutely BRILL . Awwww, my darlin Lady H, I'm so bloomin pleased for you two (obviously!! smileywink, cos it's quite emotional, even to me, how such a thing as your stair lift throne, is gonna make a humongous difference to Col and you.
On a completely different vein - Has anyone else been following James Martin's American Adventure? I only watched it tonight, because it slots into Friday nights double Corrie episodes. Can't understand it. He is raving about American food and eating what?? Deep fried butter balls !! Literally deep fried BUTTER balls!!! of all things. That's like a heart attack in a mouthful. Cooked a mountain of Blueberry pancakes topped with whipped cream, mapel syrup and his own blueberry syrup, with just a "bit" of sugar, i.e. 6-7 dessertspoonfuls!! Showed us how to deep FRY a whole chicken. On my single trip to America, Florida, I got fed up that EVERYthing was covered in batter and fried. I longed for some simple unadulterated huge prawns. It's no wonder so many Americans are sooo overweight. And when so many Brits are too, why make it worse, James!!
LesleyLush - Thank goodness you posted. I was getting worried! Harry-carrey and all that! Interesting then, that you chopped at the Hebe, and it's now being dug up!! Keep swinging on your swing, sweet girlie.
Lotsa x's, me xxxxxxxxx
Oh it is godsend, I got really emotional, Colin used it a little uncertain as that was the furthest he has walked in over a week but just to see him not having to struggle I hugged the chap, he has really changed our lives. Can't praise them enough a small family company with loads of personal touch
Just had a quick catch up. Not many postings these days, guess were all busy getting on with things and trying to stay cool. I love the sun but it’s a bit much, 33 in new money today. I’m currently on my swing in the garden, heads in the shade but another 20 minutes or so the sun will be face on so no shade and I’ll retreating Indoors.
So glad Colin finally agreed to the stairlift Helena, as you say, will conserve his energy for more important things, plus you can use it for taking laundry etc upstairs for you.
Yes Delly, he forgave me for wrecking the hebe and is now in the process of cutting it down, a bit at a time, fills the garden wheelie bin up then stops until it’s emptied. Digging the roots up is going to be a major job though, neither of us will b3 able to manage it but we will worry about that when we have to.
Hope everyone who is absent is enjoying their summer. I expect come autumn/winter and the dark cold nights we will havefull attendance again xx
Yep today's the day and I am ever so hopeful that today's is the day he gets his independence back as he won't have to conserve his energy just to get up and down stairs.
Glad to hear hubby is coming on well xx
Great to hear from you Charys! Thanks for checking in and letting us know all is well long may it continue xx Jo
I'm fine and well. Delly let me know that I was 'being missed', which is really sweet and kind of you all to ask after me. Didn't mean to make everyone concerned, just life has been everso busy and I've not been online/using forums recently. I'll have a quickly scan through the last page, see if anything major has been missed by moi.
As always, hoping you are all well and happy x
He is very much better and cant wait until Friday to get it fitted, I really think it is going to makesuch a difference, well I sincerely hope so xx
Hellooooo dear friends,
Oh DizzyDarlin - I'm so sorry to hear about your eyes. Talk about take the wind out of your sails after your good news.
Jobes - With you on Charys. Did you drop her a quick message? I've just sent one. It's so nice to see the "Just Diagnosed and needing to Talk" thread being used again, isn't it.
Lady H - I quite fancy a go on your stair lift throne. Could dust off my tiara. Is Col feeling any better now it's cooler?
Good to see you Janey and Ann
Janey, you tried Courgette Provencal - Fry onions and garlic. Add tinned tomatoes, dried Basil or Oregano, or both and halved then thickly sliced courgettes (or whatever shape you fancy, but I like it chunky). Simmer covered till courgettes cooked, then reduce down uncovered to thicken up the sauce. Add a good squirt of tom puree (don't think he'll like that very much!) plus level teaspoon of sugar per tin of toms to counteract the acid. Am sure it'd be good with other additions such as various beans?
Lesley - Have you survived the Hebe attack? Hellooooo, Are you there?
Well, I passed on to BethyBoo all your messages of sympathies and told her we understand her not having been on. She's asked me to send all of you her heartfelt thanks for. Is too wobbly to come on at the moment. Funeral was on Thursday. She found it terribly upsetting, because her Mum had written a letter to be read at the service by her sister (Beth's Aunty), who sounds very similar to her Mums voice. Plus Mum had chosen all the music. Everyone was in tears. Crikeybobs, the poor girl and her family. Had me in tears reading it.
Beths feeling at a loss after so much of her time being previously taken up with all her visits and running around and thankful to be back at work as a welcome distraction. Hubby's been an absolute rock, bless.
S'all for now folks, Lotsa love xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Ladies has anyone heard from Charys? not seen her around the forum for a few weeks unless I've missed her posts 🤔just seems a little unlike her x
Well tamoxifen is the gift that keeps on giving. I went to the optician yesterday, to find that my sight in one eye has deteriorated since January and I have macular changes that can be caused by tamoxifen. So I have a referral to a consultant for "possible toxicity from tamoxifen" In addition, I also may have glaucoma. Luckily, the other eye seems to be fine, so hopefully whatever is going on will be manageable. But it does make you look at that pill in a different way, you think it's keeping you safe, but is it doing more damage somewhere else?
A neighbour came and asked me if I liked cucumber, to which I replied oh yes, she then came back with 3 that her husbnad had picked that afternoon, OMG the taste was like nothing I had ever tasted in a cucumber, they were gorgeous, needless to say they didnt last long.
Do you do food boxes
The stairlift is now on order, we are waiting for confirmation of the fitting date. How a week can change in our world.
Hello my lovelies and sorry for being missing in too much action for a while! Delly, lovely to see you back again and Dizzy, so glad to welcome you into the meadow for some hay. Beth, if you are reading these messages, sending you a virtual hug and hoping you are doing okay. Lee, thinking of you especially. I'm not sure where you are in Australia, but know you are having a colder time than we are, as my daughter is complaining of frosts in Melbourne. Helena and Lesley you certainly have lots going on and am sure you are both finding your gardens havens. I met up with a friend for coffee today and we have a new word "sanctity" - a combination sanctuary and sanity, which my garden certainly gives me. Sanctity much needed at the moment, with work hours upped and too many lovely friends and family fighting their battles with the big C. Whilst I feel happy to give back the wonderful support I had, I do wish I didn't have to.
Clair, such good news about the cut back in days for you, time to put yourself first. I've had the last week as leave and we escaped in the camper for some much needed down time. Dreading return to work tomorrow but has to be done.
On a brighter note, the cucumber glut has started here, along with a courgette and bean glut, so maybe some of you have handy recipes!
Lots of love to all fluffies, wherever you may be xx
Hi (Again) Girlywhirlies
DizzyDarlin - Awww, I'm really chuffed about your results me dear.Abfab brill for you. And . . . .I'm so pleased you gave a lovely brief rundown about your hol !!Ha Ha. You and me, ice cream fiends.
Claireeee - That is good news on the 3 day week. I'm so glad you managed to reach a better solution for yourself, and able to stay in your job you love so much.
LesleyLush - That's good you're able to stay with and nurse your Sis. OMG on the Hebe's - Can't you stick the branches back on with sellotape Oh dear. If we don't hear from you for sometime, we'll suspect harrycarry (is that how it's spelt) gone on. I meant to ask how your gay friend was, a while back. That's great news, she got a load of coming out barriers out of the way, is feeling more happy and relaxed about her sexuality. And found a suitable partner to boot. Eeeee, it's jud like a bloomin fairy tale - lovely stuff. I'll go halves with you on a big inflatable paddling pool. I've got an inflatable unicorn we can play with. (Please resist any rude comments girls please, I was being purely innocent).
Lady Helena - What a good idea to have a walker up and downstairs, cos of course, they're quite cumbersome to keep lifting up and down. Just got to get his stair chariot now then.
Don't know when Beth may be on, but I'm sure she'd appreciate a few quick messages of sympathy, or I could send a group one if you like. Yeh?
Have been a poorly cat today, nauseous and sick this morning, sore behind the eyeballs, bunged up nose, headache and occasional really sharp shooting pains in head. Feelin much better now. See what a magic effect you have. Just gonna pop another couple of para's just in case tho, heads still very achey.
I'm watching Voice Kids for some lighthearted none taxing entertainment. Some of these kids are really good.
Good luck with hubby Lush !!!! Fingers crossed
Lotsa love to you all, Dellywelly xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Yay, brilliant news Dizzy, plenty of hay in the Nddie field due to everyones lawns turning yo hay due to this incessant heat and no rainfall.
Sad to hear about Beths mum. Not 7nexpected but doesn’t make it any less painful.
Delly, sis saw consultant yesterday, no evid3nce of C, but cyst on ovary growing and fast, advised to have both out asap.. However, due to her many health issues plus being on warfarin any surgery is tricky. She’ll have to be hospital 3 days before and 2-3 days after so I’ll be going to stay with her after as she’ll be st risk of heamrogicing for upto a week after.
Think id better disappear now! I went a bit beserk with the secteurs earlier and have made a right mess of one of himself’s favourite hebes, MASSIVE hole it, looks terrible. It’s in the front garden right by front door so he can’t miss it. Oh dear, no chance of it filling in by morning.
Great news Clair, just make sure you don’t use the extra free time cleaning or anuth8ng stupid like thst.
oh, wish it would rain. None here, missed the showers forecasted, going to be 33 tomorrow. Delly if I win the lottery and get my swimming pool you’ll be my first guest. By the way, remember my friend who came out to me? Well after several very difficult months plunging into depression, lots of counselling etc she finally told her mother, sister and a few close friends. She’s now met someone, went to PRIDE with her in London, told all her work colleagues, never been happier and they’ve just booked a holiday together. So happy for her xx
ps, finished antibiotics but still chesty, had a vino every night so that’s probably why xx
that is the same as Colin, he has gone easily 9 months without getting an attack and even then he took a tablet but wasnt sure if it was, however he was erring on the side of caution xxx
I had a lovely holiday thank you, the Scillies really haven't changed since we went there for our honeymoon (1985!) They were in a time warp then. We couldn't do much walking though, it was so hot, and most of the other islands don't have many trees, so no shade anywhere. So I was forced to sit in the shade on St Mary's admiring the view and eating ice cream...
My all clear letter came today, so that's safely out of the way, I can't believe how this two years has flown by. Thank you to all the Fluffies, because I don't know how I would have managed without you.
Beth, I don't know whether you read this thread now, but I just wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear about your Mum, the last few months and weeks must have been so difficult. So sending you love and thinking of you.
It doesn't seem fair poor Colin gets gout, he already has enough to deal with. Mike used to get it and it's obviously agony, now he takes medication that prevents it. But he had it for years off and on.
Hi again grills,
Lesley, I was so sorr y to hear about your Sis. How is she doing?
How's your chest? You do realise you have to choose between either anti B's and the hic liquid, don't you, otherwise they cancel each other out. I know which one I'd and you'd prefer, so stick to what's preferable, as oppo to what's best!! Hope your Dorset friend's daughter is winning her custody battle and her health gets better. Am chuckling again at your garden battles with your OH. Advice - You thought about buying one of those robot grass cutters!! Just caught news of "his" accident - crikey Lush. Hope he's okay after, is he? Ref your BCN - hope her false nails soon drop off! or her own crumble!! Yeh, I did wonder about your inside or outside pool mention. Damn - Was just about to invite myself for a w/end!! I'd have brought plenty of wine (well chilled, I add!!). Will STILL do, if you give me any excuse to!!
Lady H - Hope Col's improved with the cooler weather. Glad to hear you're not targeted as "urgent" for your op, darlin. Stair lift - that sounds a fandabidozee idea. Hope you can persuade him. From my past life as a Pod, I know gout's terribly painful. Poor love.
Lee - So good to hear from you. Oh, you poor, brave lady. What a Ffffflippin (polite!) awfully tough time for you. I take my Beanie off to you, as I'm sure everyone else on here is. Workwise - Well I'm hoping your "good" weeks far exceed your "bad" ones. If your weird food cravings include Lobsters - that you're getting plenty of 'em and whatever else your poor bod desires. Am sending you loads and loads of love, and wishing you bucket loads of strength to help you through all of this s**t you're going through. Hope your hubbie's still doing well too.
Darlin-Dizzy - How was your hol? Did you have a good time?? (Getting you to tell us about your hols is like drawing blood from a stone). Go on, tell us, pleeease. Hope you don't have to wait much longer on your Mamm results and they're GOOD!
Ann - How's your hubby going on with his knee?
Love y'all loads
Dellywelly xxxxxxxxx Some extra for Beth xxxxxx
Wanted to post this, before catching up and anything else. Just found out Beth lost her lovely Mum on the 15th July.
I know you'll all be equally as upset as I am to hear such sad news, so I'm posting a message Beth sent from April last year, that just happened to come up (weird really), when I linked into the Fluffs thread. Maybe not altogether appropriate, but a mark to BethyBoos lovingness and our own loving thoughts to her at this incredibly sad time for her. It's been an tough 2 1/2 yrs endurance for her Mum and family. But, as Beth herself said, "now there's no more suffering, and she's finally at peace". I've sent a personal email but I'm sure all of You/We hope that, that thought itself can be some degree of consolation, comfort and solace to you, my dear BethyBoo, at such an upsetting time.
My heart, thoughts and love are with you xxxx
my thought for today. There's so much of the unknown out there, we must make the most of what we do know.....and have. Be it family or friends. I don't think I've ever felt so grateful in my life after hearing about Lesley's friends. Sending hugs, cwtches and love to everyone who needs them, especially you Lesley. xxx"
Right Lady H, now try and enjoy the rest of your summer and try and get Colin to accept all the help and assistance available including stairlift, you need to be able to concentrate on yourself without fretting over him. Honestly men, I do understand that they feel the need to try and keep as much independence as possible but you’d think they’d realise thst all these things actually give them more not less, hey ho. we love them anyway.
Its still too hot here though today we did have a fair bit of cloud but that just made it more heavy and humid. Did enjoy a nice stroll along the river Thames after lunch admiring all the beautiful boats. Think if I sold my house I still wouldnt have enough to buy one. Still, not complaining, quite content, if I had One it would only be something else to clean xx
