Re: Letrozole and Gout

hi ladies I have been on Anastrozole for 3 months and I also had excruciatingly bad pain in my big toe it only lasted 24 hours so not sure if it was gout or not, will just see if it happens again, very strange.  Fezzy x

Re: Letrozole and Gout

Hi , have you experienced gout again since your attack or was it just the once? I have been on Letrozole for 18months and have just had gout in my right toe joint. I too don’t fit any criteria for it so doctor thinks it was caused by the Letrozole. I’m hoping it was a one off. I haven’t been on this site for a while but popped on to see if anyone else was suffering too

Letrozole and Gout

Hi

I've been taking Letrozole for six months after 8yrs of Tamoxifen.  I have developed sudden excruciating pain in my big toe joint which the GP thinks is Gout.  I don't fit any of the criteria for developing gout and am at a loss as to why this has happened now.  I read that lack of oestrogen makes gout more likely in post menopausal women but this seems very sudden (I had prophylactic salpingo oopherectomy last year so am only newly postmenopausal).  I'm wondering if the letrozole has anything to do with it - has anyone else experienced this? Thanks
