I was initially on Letrozole pre lumpectomy, but the pathology results showed that it had only had a clinical effect and not a histological effect on the tumor. Eventually I changed over to Tamoxifen, but was told that I didn't have to wait when switching the meds, just stop Letrozole one day and start on Tamoxifen the next. Now I am worried that I didn't have a break between the meds. I have an oncology review soon so will ask about it then.
I have been taking Tamoxifen (as well as Zoladex injection monthly) for just over a year. When I was initially prescribed it I went to the chemist attached to my doctors (Boots) and asked them what Brand they usually stock. They said "Wockhardt" and I saw my doctor and asked her to put it on the prescription so I always get it. I did have nausea and "heavy legs" for a little while but this went away plus have hot flushes (bearable) plus lots of cramp (controlled with a magnesium tablet). I seem to have a low mood some days but manageable.
I have heard that the TEVA brand is also one of the better ones.
Hope this helps. Michele x
I don't think it's true that there's not a lot of difference, except in the fact that one's talking about small percentages of improvement overall.
