Re: Work with a PICC line

The Picc line won’t interfere with your ability to use your arm as normal I found. I got some very pretty Picc line covers which people thought I was wearing just for fashion, they had no idea it was covering a line!!  However, if you are already suffering with lymphodema should you be doing heavy lifting? I know that not everybody in the UK gets them but, in your situation, why not try to be fitted with a port a cath? Much better than the alternatives.

Work with a PICC line

Hi, I have had a recurrence diagnoses and have a planning appointment for chemo (before surgery). I have lymphoedema in my left arm and surrounding area from my primary diagnoses. I am concerned that as I only have 1 arm available for chemo, bloods etc that there is a possibility I will need a line put in.

I work in the science department of a private school which involves lots of lifting, carrying and dealing with lots of different chemicals.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and can offer any advice for if I need a line.

Thanks
