Lol! That's so funny ๐Ÿ˜‚

If the rest of the class know your situation and you feel comfortable, just be natural and if it does come out, just blame it on the cleaners ๐Ÿ˜œ

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all coping with this crappy crap we are dealing with together!

Now, this is going to sound like a really weird thing so brace yourselves.........

I feel well enough to try my Yoga class today, BUT my hair has started to drop out and I am really worried about โ€˜moulting all over my mat! I canโ€™t make up my mind if I should take a cap or just let it happen. Downward Dogs are going to be interesting!

Ahhhhhhhh!

Hi Lou

I'm pleased to hear you're doing ok after no 2, well done you ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’

Dont forget to drink loads today too.

I started my injections yesterday and I've already got achy knees ๐Ÿ˜ง But I'm still going to go out for a walk as it's such a beautiful day here in the Derbyshire Dales ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good luck to those ladies having treatment today, fingers crossed it all goes well, and it will be another down ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Stay safe and warm ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค— big hugs

Hi juzcooper, hope everything goes well for you on 7th Nov. I found that wearing seasickness bands during chemo and for a few days afterwards helped with the sickness.

I've got 2 cats and I was just told not to let them lick me. I shouldn't think there will be a problem with your dogs xx

Re: October 2018 Chemo starters

Hi all. I start my chemo 7th Nov and have joined the November thread. However, I've spent an hour and a half reading through this thread to get a heads up on what to expect after my 1st and 2nd cycles. It's a fantastic thread and have got some great tips for upcoming possible side effects for which I thank you. Sorry to hear those of you who have not had a good time and had to spend time in hospital. You have all given me inspiration ๐Ÿ˜˜ I just wanted to ask a question. We have 2 dogs who I love dearly and give me great comfort. I know that the chemo basically abliterates your immune system and you have to be careful during certain periods. Do any of you have pets and have been advised to avoid them through these times due to possible infection. Sorry if this is a daft question ๐Ÿ˜• xx

Re: October 2018 Chemo starters

Hi everyone, I started chemo today -first of 3 FEC, then it will be 3 x T.
Iโ€™ve been really anxious about all the possible side effects but nothing much has happened so far - except feeling a bit spaced out and dizzy. Obviously itโ€™s early days though...
Iโ€™ve got a portacath fitted which made the infusion much easier (no more nasty needles - I had 2 blood tests and 4 injections/cannulas last week, mostly on the same day so totally fed up of being a human pincushion).
Iโ€™m trying the cold cap and it was nowhere near as bad as I expected.
Look forward to hearing/sharing chemo experiences x

O I hope the district nurse doesnโ€™t keep you waiting to long
I told them I would inject myself , then thought what are you saying , so told my husband he has to do it ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
Iโ€™m glad to read this sickness does pass and I will be sure to tell them that it hasnโ€™t been great
Iโ€™m also glad to read being tired and just sleeping is normal the nurse yesterday said just stick with normal life routine
Well since 9pm last night I have slept for few hours woke had drink been sick took meds and pretty much continues in that pattern
How can one feel so tired after all those hours sleep all be it broken sleep xx

Re: October 2018 Chemo starters

Hi Ladies. Do listen to your bodies. I found that I had 4 days or so after FEC where I just took to my bed. Hardly ate anything. I found sparkling water with a splash of cordial most palatable. However, after the first few days, a week at most, I was up and about as normal. Donโ€™t forget everyone is different. Take it easy and look after yourselves. Much love Kxxx

Re: October 2018 Chemo starters

Good luck with round two, Lou. You can get through it! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ’ช

Kateday, I felt sick for a week. Started feeling a little better from day 4, and nausea had largely gone by day 7. (Iโ€™m on FEC.) I really struggled to eat or drink, but eventually found that I could stomach sparkling apple juice and that really helped! Drinking water was horrible for the first week for me. It does get better. Iโ€™ve felt fine the rest of the cycle. Gearing up for round two on Friday now! ๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™m thinking of you, Aneeebel. Youโ€™ve had a bit of a rough time so far! Fingers crossed your tinnitus subsides soon - not what you need right now! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I hope your distric nurse comes soon to put your mind at ease, Fiona. Good to hear your husband is working from home so he can be there for you. ๐Ÿ’•

Love and gentle hugs to all! ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’œ

Re: October 2018 Chemo starters

Hi Aneeebel

I hope you're feeling a bit better today. I had to have a nap yesterday afternoon but it worked. We just have to listen to our bodies and if they say rest, then rest it is.

I'm having a bit of a wobble today so hubby's working from home just to be there for me.

Kateday, keep sipping the water.  I'm on Akynzeo too with dexamethasone, but both of these I have to take one hour before chemo. I've got domperidone as anti-sickness pills but I've not had to use them yet so couldn't tell you if they're any good. I've still got taste buds so far, but I'm only on day 5.

I'm waiting for the district nurse to come today and stressing about that, what if they don't turn up etc.

Thinking of you all and hoping you all have a positive day, big hugs ๐Ÿค—

A daytime nap sounds like an excellent idea, Aneeebel! Be kind to yourself and take things gently. I hope you feel a bit more steady on your feet and less tired tomorrow after a good sleep. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ’•

Great work, Fiona, getting through your first few days and managing a long walk. So pleased to hear the side effects have been kind to you thus far - long may it continue! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿค—

Very brave, Lou, going ahead with the shave. Good on you! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’ช

Welcome, Kateday, to this fabulous group. The ladies have been so lovely and supportive of me (and of everyone here). It has helped me immensely! Thank you all! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’•

Thanks for the tips, Shi! I will definitely ask about the anti-sickness medsโ€™ you mentioned. Food tasted horrible for a week last time (continuing longer than the nausea) so Iโ€™m super encouraged that you managed to avoid losing your tastebuds. Fingers crossed there is a combination of anti-sickness meds that will work better for me in round two. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™ˆ

I feel the same, as my first session was last Friday so these lovely ladies this month are at least two weeks ahead of me. We'll all get there though.

Have you got sea sickness bands? They've certainly helped me and I've not needed to take the antisickness pills. And water, just keep drinking the water.

Take care ๐Ÿค—

Lou, make sure you take the injection out of the fridge 20mins before you need it. Pinch a good inch and holding the flesh go in at a 30degree angle. You do get used to it I promise. Kx

Glad you feeling good i think i only had to rough days but again i think i made it worse by not drinking, i drinking like a fish today ready for tomorrow,
My son had said he will shave my head if i want him to i am thinking about it for today because my head realy irritable at the mo and everytime i go to gently rub or scratch it clumps of hair come out ๐Ÿ˜ฎ,
I was a bit nervous about the injections but i managed to do them myself i put an ice pack on my tummy first then did it ๐Ÿ˜–,
I will keep you posted if i brave the shave,

Re: October 2018 Chemo starters

Morning Lou

I feel surprisingly well and I'm shocked by that to say the least. I haven't really had any nasty side effects, just slight nausea and headache for a couple of days. I've not needed to take the anti-sickness pills, I just make sure I drink at least 4 pints of water a day. I drank that much while I was receiving the chemo, I think it may have helped.  I do seem to have a slight tingle in my fingers on my left hand today and my scalp feels a bit weird too, so maybe the FEC is working. I was beginning to think they'd given me fake stuff as I wasn't suffering much ๐Ÿ˜œ . I should start on the injections tomorrow, when the district nurse turns up, I don't want to do that bit!

I'm not looking forward to the hair loss bit, just like the rest of you. I hope it's quick. My hubby has agreed to shave it for me once it starts coming out. I don't think I could face going to my hairdresser ๐Ÿ˜ข It's going to be traumatic enough as it is.

It's a beautiful day outside, ladies, I hope you're all going to take advantage of it. I'm hoping to go for a walk later when hubby's home.

Stay ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช and safe. Big hugs ๐Ÿค—

Morning ladies,

Fiona hope you doing okay my lump was feeling a bit tender too i thought perhaps its the fec working i hope so anyway and as for tierdness exactly the same i was in bad for 9 but then awake again in an hour then on off all night ive tried to go bed later the last week but i still have restless nights the last 3 nights its been my head with the prickly sensation and got up with head ache my hair coming out thick and fast now and gone patchy, ๐Ÿค—

Elliesmum,
I know what you mean about feeling anxious ive git my second round tomorrow and i dreading it incase it knocks me about , ive been told to make sure i keep drinking plenty because i do struggle with getting the fluids in i not a big drinker, ๐Ÿค—

Have a good day , stay ๐Ÿ’ชstrong ladies and warm ,

ElliesMum, be brave, you can do this. And we're all here to support you ๐Ÿ‘ญ You've done the first one and got through it, so well done to you. ๐Ÿ…Each cycle we go through is one step closer to the end and being well again.

I don't think my lump Humphrey is too pleased about his FEC treatment, he feels a bit tender today and I'm only on day 4 of cycle 1. I can only hope that FEC is doing its job ๐Ÿ˜‰

Today's the first day on my own, as hubby's gone to work, although he says he'll only do a half day. I don't want to waste the day so have got a list of jobs to work through (or not depending on how I feel ๐Ÿ˜œ). Does everyone else get tired quickly? I'm in bed by 9 every night, having already fallen asleep on the sofa ๐Ÿ˜€

Take care lovely ladies, stay safe and warm ๐Ÿค—

Sar_ah Iโ€™m sorry you got such an early wake up greeting (even if it was super cute)! Daylight savings is a bit rough with little ones. If it makes you feel any better, we were up at 5am this morning too! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ (Sadly my in laws live 3 hours away, so a child-free night is like gold dust!)

I have my second cycle on Friday, and even though I feel well at the moment Iโ€™m starting to feel a tiny bit anxious about it. I guess I know whatโ€™s coming now, and I really donโ€™t want to feel so horribly unwell again! ๐Ÿ™ˆ I see the oncologist tomorrow for a review. I have felt well since about day 8, but really did feel absolutely terrible for the first 3-4 days. Is there anything I should be asking to change this time? I had Emend from the outset, but sadly it didnโ€™t seem to make much of a difference for me! ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Had a nightmare night on Friday, hubby phoned the emergency number for chemo and they told him to phone 999 for an ambulance, I had terrible trouble swallowing, Friday night in hospital with drunks, druggies and people who had been in fights.
I felt so ill, the staff were lovely and tried to put me on a bed away from other people. The doctor came to a conclusion that I had some reaction to the sickness medication I'd taken, gave me a strong intrevenous of antihistamines and that seemed to help. Got home and into bed at 4.30 totally exhausted. Not a good start and so stressful for my OH.

Hi Aneeebel

I'm surprised at how well I feel to be honest. No sickness, just very slight nausea but I'm wearing my sea sickness bands and it seems to be helping, not had to resort to the anti-sickness pills yet.  I do have a headache which started on the C input yesterday. But it's better than it was yesterday and I've not resorted to painkillers, just drinking loads. The only thing is I have a flushed face, but temperature is fine.

I didnt sleep very well because I was expecting to be ill! So I'm still tired but managing to do housework etc.

How are you after No 2? I do hope you're ok ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

Take care all of you and keep fighting, you lovely ladies.
