Claire, I think you need to be careful with supplements and the tamoxifen so you should check with your doctor first. That was what I was told by my onc as I'd asked her about sage supplements as I'd read they are good for hot flushes. I also asked her about a high potency vitamin to boost immune system after chemo but just got the same reply, speak to doctor which I haven't done yet.
The event on 4october sounds like a great idea and would be round about the anniversary that we all met virtually online. I'd also still like to do walk the night in July but we're usually away then so haven't registered yet.
Ruth, what oil have you been using? I'd read people use olive oil. I used to use a natural hair oil once a week prior to chemo and intend to start using it again but was going to leave it another couple of weeks. Thanks also fir info on the asparagus.
Buddyfan, hope you're doing ok and feeling a bit better. I think the angle of the picture was fortuitous as mine is also very thin on top and at the back but I think it is growing back. The curls do definitely disguise it a bit but it doesn't seem as curly as it was pre-chemo so hoping that will rectify itself. I have been on the rads thread a little bit but will still continue mostly on this one. Being back in the office though means I don't get time to check and post as much ☹️
Scalp is still flakey but not not as bad as it was. Ruth is your scalp still flakey or did it clear up?
Hi Runnerbean, nice to hear you've got things sorted. I'm starting rads Monday too and took my first tamoxifen today. So far so good 😊
Perfect song Ruth. We rule the world. And the universe..
Really good to see a picture of Karena and Meesh, you look lovely and happy. Celebrate away!
And you both have and still are working so hard through treatment. Strong women both of you!
Watching the Winter Olympics opening ceremony now. Looking forward to the events. Will we get another Torville and Dean spectacular I wonder..
Enjoy your day. So far, I feel ok. Gonna take some more meds now.
Keep us posted about the Tamoxifen Meesh....I’m trying not to worry about it and sure we will be fine....positive thinking!! Xxx
I'm working from home today, so better log on in a minute as I have loads to do☹️ It's rainy and horrible here this morning but will need to go out to get some milk and something else I can't remember at the moment.
I took my first tamoxifen this morning 😱was going leave it until tomorrow but decided not to in case I had a reaction, would not want to have to go to A&E.
Morning ladies....hope u all managed a relatively good nites sleep....and those pesky Utis start getting better 😘
After a a busy day yesterday I managed to sleep well luckily....woke up to a very damp miserable day so don’t think I will be venturing out with the dog this morning!
Thought id share the picture of me and Meesh from yesterday.....hope you don’t mind Meesh 😘 I’m not great at selfies but hey ho!!
What’s everyones plans for today??
Buddyfan, Jellytot hope you both get those Utis under control soon and start to feel better.
Shi, is on her get away but did manage to get her posh wig! How about a bit of Ricky Martin "living the Vida loca" to try and make up for Shi's absence 😂Love you Shi! 😘😘DJ Karen could you do the honours and upload it please as it's beyond me, sorry!
Glad to hear your temperature has gone down, but sorry that you've also got a uti. They're horrible aren't they! My oncologist has given me Trimethoprim 200mg, but I'm not sure they're working as still finding it painful. When I had a uti before, my doctor gave me Flucloxacillin 500mg. That uti was worse than this one, but I felt better quicker.
I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow, but if I don't feel much better, I think I'll ring the doctor to see if I can have something stronger than what I've got xx
Yes I'm having zolendronic acid-I've been having it every other chemo session and then like you, every 6 months for about 3 years. My oncologist offered it to me because I'm TN. Apparently it helps to strengthen the bones, but also recent studies in the US had shown that it could help to prevent a recurrance of bc.
So pleased for you that you haven't got to have that final chemo! My oncologist had originally said that I'd probably have 8 rounds of chemo, but reduced it to 6 when I saw her a few days before Christmas because the lymph node in my breast had reduced back to normal size. My best Christmas present! xx
Chaffinch, that's nice that the Pilates does a special class for previous Maggie attendees and lucky for you it's not on a day you work.
Jellytot, I can only imagine what you're going through. It must be so hard dealing with treatment and the loss of your mum and all the arrangements that go with that. I continue to think about you ❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗 I speak with my mum often and will continue to do so knowing how lucky I am.
Cassie, glad you're home!
Ali, it is a scary thing, but you're right the sooner you have op the sooner you can recover. I think someone else was asking about the Zol acid was it Buddyfan?
Buddyfan, glad you're temp is down now. Make sure to keep an eye on it, but really hope you've turned that corner now and will improve. We're going to see if we can meet up during rads so we'll let you know and hopefully you can make it.
Sue, yes Shi was posh wig shopping today but think she might have also been going away for a few days So said she might not have access to internet.
