Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Karana, I don’t mean to be a panic merchant but shouldn’t you ring the rapid response no if you feel dizzy, I am sure that was one of the things they told me to do. Joyce st want to make sure you look after yourself. What we would normally just brush off as feeling a bit out of sorts needs watching like constantly while we are on chemo. Love you and just want you to take care if you for a change please 😘😘✨✨💕💕shi xx

My parents are popping over in a minute as they have their best friends over so want to see me...but I will sit down and take it easy, at the end of the day if I do go and have to come home I think they will all understand!!! Xxx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Chaffinch happy silver wedding anniversary 😘sue it’s the t chemo when they can drop off or ping off which is when we have to not do any ring pulls or putting any pressure on fingers as it can make the nails ping off but the fec I have been advised can cause the ridges and discolouration of nails, do keep cuticles and all skin round fingers and toes well moisturised. 😘😘I’ve had the black nail polish on from the start too as I don’t want to see what’s going on in the nail dept, I just want them to stay on please. Has anyone started to loose their eyebrows get? I’ve noticed the last few days mine are going a bit thin, still there but definitely thinner. 😘😘💕💕✨✨shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

My nails are ridged but not hurting or anything but I put black nail varnish on before each chemo just in case but I thought it was the t part too that caused problems
Happy anniversary chaffinch have a lovely day x
I got roast beef too meat cooked and veg prepped but I know if I tired my daughter will finish cooking x Sunday dinner is quite a tradition in our house and my daughter and son in law come round every Sunday (well he comes when he is home as he is a medic in the navy and ship based ) and my son doesn’t work until Sunday evening it is the one day we always eat together xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

My toe nails are fine but my finger nails are very dry and ridged and not as white as they were.
It’s our Silver Wedding anniversary today and we are out to lunch with our ED and her boyfriend. I haven’t seen her for a couple of months so really looking forward to it.
Hope everyone has a good day xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Good morning ladies, just saying hello as I’ve been busy the last couple of days with work and catching up with friends and family. Hope you are all doing ok and fingers crossed that infecections clear up soon so we can all be back on the chemo train and one step closer to finishing. Quick question, I have noticed one of my toe nails is turning brown/black at the bottom. I thought nail problems came with the Taxol not FEC? Anybody else had this? I have an appointment with the oncologist on Tuesday so I will add it to my list of questions. Hope you all have a lovely day. I’m really looking forward to my roast beef later just a shame I have to cook it myself! ⚡️⚡️💫✨✨✨🦄🦄xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Good morning ladies, I just wanted to pop by and say hello!

I’m sorry I can’t keep up with you all but I’ve scanned through some of the chat I’ve missed and I know I need to address my diet after all this is over, I do love my sugar! I’m so reluctant to google anything though!!

Sorry to hear about the delays last week, it’s certainly taken me longer to get over my 3rd cycle on Monday than it did the previous one. Hopefully I’ll get out of the house today finally xx

Lots of love 💕 and ✨ to everyone xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning everyone, I had a lovely visit from my brother yesterday but I was too bloody wobbly/dizzy to leave the house. It was still great to laugh and joke and see the children having a good time too.

I hope you’ve all got fun packed Sunday’s planned, I’m planning on leaving the house today even if it kills me!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies!

had a bit of a lie in this morning and gave then been doing my jobs to get them out of way.

Chaffinch, yes I do think overweight has bearing on er+ I had also changed my diet over the last year to cut out sugar, processed foods but actually increased dairy intake and fat, veg and still managed to lose a stoneand a half. I've eaten more carbs this round and put 5 lb on 😬 My plan to eat what I wanted week 1 and then eat healthier weeks 2&3 went a bit out of the window with the fig rolls and choccie biscuits I ate! Plan to be more healthy this cycle if I can with healthy snacks and nit as much sugar!

Karen, enjoy your lunch with your friends it must be difficult to know what to do re:headwear but go with what feels comfortable to you.

Ruth, enjoy your girls movie afternoon!

Sue, enjoy your walk around the shops, I'm going off fir weekly Tesco shop in a bit.

its sunny here too at the moment might go out for a walk on the beach and an ice cream later (make most of sugar while I can)!

Hope everyone else is ok and gave a good day ladies!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies, what a lovely post Chaffinch. I think Michael Moseley's work is great and follow him quite closely. He does some good work on fats for all those questions about good and bad fats - he did some great studies on olive oil and coconut oil and butter. Essentially all those veggie oils we have been told to eat for years are pretty bad for us, as is margarine. I have a few other reading recommendations if anyone is interested ♥️♥️
Glad to hear your OH is doing so well.
Planning a slow day today - the steroids got a bit heavy duty yesterday and think they might have been making me so emotional (just looked at their SE profile 😱😱) We need them but it ain't pretty!!
DD at swimming this morning, then OH is taking her out for a couple of hours to run the energy out of her and then I promised we would do a girls movie afternoon 😊

OH went out for a bit of a pub crawl with a friend last night and got home quite late (it took a bit of coercion to make him go!!) and apart from the obvious alcohol related 🍺 side effects he seems a bit brighter this morning 👍

Wishing everyone a lovely day - might go back to sleep now!! ✨✨✨🦄🦄🦄🦄🌈🌈🌈🌈💫💫💫

Claire was the film any good ? I quite fancy it but hubby not keen we never seem to agree on films to see.

We are currently watching Lucifer on amazon prime and it is really good if anyone looking for something to watch and at least it is something we are both enjoying x

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning Karen
Enjoy lunch x
I currently got beef cooking so meat cooked before I go shops which don’t open until 11 hubby and son still in bed x already stripped my bed and put clean bedding on (hubby still got snotty nose so in spare room) think I might even put the washing on the line

Karen have you got a head scarf you can wear? You tube for different ways to tie, as much as I love my wigs I find them quite hot if I am going in shops or restaurants etc xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

I agree Chaffinch, there is a world of medicine in the food we eat and more variety than I thought possible with fresh fruit and veg. I have always been vegetarian but since diagnosis have just cut out processed food. I do like the occasional cake but I make it myself and am trying brown sugar, coconut sugar and non refined alternatives. Sugar is well documented as feeding certain cancers despite what the rather dated information the bcn's tell you. You have to go with your gut instinct and do your own research at the end of the day - it's what is right for you and your family.
Have a great day everyone whatever you doSmiley Happy
I went on a cheeky cinema trip with OH to see Murder on the Orient Express last night - fun to get out despite being day 2 post chemo and falling asleep in parts! Glad I had water with me - am always so thirsty in the first week!
Hugs to you all xxc

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Morning ladies, it’s bright and sunny here in Norwich, I slept ok and feeling more my normal self!

Were out for lunch today with some lovely friends, were invited on Friday but I had to decline as we don’t get staff in until 3pm, then friend asked another member of our staff if she wld come in for a couple of hours and he would pay her so we could go!! Delema of the day is what to wear on my head!  It’s quite a posh venue we’re going to so can’t really have a woolly hat on so think my wig may have to come out and play 😬 I’m just so self conscious with it on tho!

Said I’d take my youngest son to work this morning, although he doesn’t live in the pub with us he’s only down the road and struggles on a Sunday getting a bus as Sunday service is rubbish, my dad has been doing this for me since I’ve been having treatment but they have friends staying this weekend, just hope we don’t get stuck in any rememberance marches, may have to take a different route!

Have a fab time shopping Sue....Anyone else got any plans?
