Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi Shi, hi October ladies, here's a link for udderly cream on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Udderly-Smooth-Extra-Cream-118ml/dp/B008XI9C1E/ref=sr_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=...

Make sure you get the Extra Care cream containing urea. It's brilliant if you get sore or dry skin from chemo. Good luck everyone!

Runnerbean, I’d always had long hair too, go for a grade 4, it’s fine trust me and since I did mine yesterday so far no shedding that I can tell of today, don’t know if it was the weight getting it out quicker before. I’d alredy bobbed mine and sent hair to little princess wigs for kids, they make wigs for children and give them out to them for free. Karana got her trim today too, both of you on pink Friday 💕💕💕✨✨✨I am kidding about the Wonder Woman headgear for the meet up ladies, you thought it,d make us all laugh thing about twirling all together when we meet up, we’d look like a flash mob and be posted on utube before we had finished 😂😂😂😂 shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

😁😁😁we all get chemo brain meesh and our forums busy 😁😁😁so easy to miss something. I’ve asked one of the lovely May chemo ladies to put A link up for any one who is interested about some really good cream that they all use called udderly smooth with added urea from amazon, they advised it is good for sore, red, peeling hands, feet, scalp & face which I think is a se of the t part for those having fec-t but could be useful for those on fec too if anyone starts to have sore feet, hands, scalp, face. So we can all get prepared as best we can for the journey, these are ladies who have gained their chemo badges and know what they are talking about and I am so very grateful that they are helping us Oct girls with their knowledge. 💕💕💕✨✨✨shi xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi ladies, good luck with all appointments e.t.c today. My hair is shedding like crazy today exactly 2 weeks after 1st chemo but I’m booked in for a cut today so looks like it’s time for the shave which makes me nervous as I have always had long hair. Talking of cats my 2 are now walking round the house complaining about being covered in my hair which makes a change from me being covered in theirs! xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Sorry everyone, got confused thought Wonder Woman stuff was during chemo now just had time to read back again and can see it is for the meet up, going to blame it on chemo brain 🙄

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Shame the sea bands don't come in gold, could pass them off as Wonder Woman bangles!

Shi, OH did cat grabbing as I also didn't want to get scratched, although this one isn't too bad (more vocal than scratchy). Last cat used to lacerate anything she came into contact with!

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi everyone, managed to get cat in carrier with minimal fuss, although it was a two man job and took some bribing with treats to get her into grabbing position 🙀! That means me, OH and cat have now had our flu jabs this week 😹

Karana, you've persuaded me that having my wig cut is probably a good idea so will look into that now.

Ha ha Shi like the idea of Wonder Woman pants, perhaps should wear them to chemo session next week and 🕺🏻🕺🏻💃🕺🏻🕺🏻💃💃💃💃 my way in like Ruth! They might end up sending me to a rather different ward! Hope everyone's having a good day! 😊

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Karana i wss the same with my wig when i put it on myself. Did you buy a care pack with the brush, shampoo, gel etc. Its great.

Shi you have one 5ml spoonful of a morning on an empty stomach and just suck it slowly. Then have one 5ml spoonful before bed at night. I hope it works for us Shi! Get the coconut water as that helps build immunity too. It must be pasteurised though so i have got the M& S one. Doesnt taste great but i am thinking of it as medicine.

My froend who went through chemo 3 years ago said she used to burn tea tree oil in the house to help keep infection awsy too
I havent tried that yet!
Suew hope your apts go well.

Goid luck everyone doing wear it pink today xx

The lady who cut my wig is a good friend so that helped...although when she had finished she made me take it off and shake it then put it back on and I looked like rod steward!!  After a bit of fiddling It was back to normal tho!! Laughter definitely helps me 😂🤣😁😆

Hubby is back so hopefully I can relax a bit again now although today will be busy!

Ive got hospital appointment with oncologist this afternoon...think it’s just a check up?!

Have a good Friday everyone 😘🦄💃💃💃🎉🎉🎉🦄😘

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Sorry ladies have had such a busy day I've only now managed to try & read all the posts to catch up!!

Ive had lumpectomy with clear margins and nodes, stage 3 tho so oncotype test done, came back at 27 but they still decided I needed chemo and rads then tamoxifen!!

Shi I have decided to have hair shaved at my Big Pink day tomorrow...this has upset a few people as they aren't sure they can handle it....I understand but I think although very scary it may help me accept it better!!  I've already sold over £300 in raffle tickets and another £400 through donations....very pleased!!  Also had my wig trimmed this eve so bit happier with that!

right I now need to try get some sleep so I don't look like a pink zombie tomorrow!!

Night 🦄✨✨🌟🌟💫💫🦄

I think it's harder for those around us to deal with it as they are powerless to help. This is certainly true in my case, I often feel I have to keep insanely positive to support them !
This is why the forum is so valuable !

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

No worries Shi, I wasn’t exactly clear 🙂 I miss my essential oils but don’t want to use them around the little one until she’s 6 months old when it’s generally deemed safe. I was diagnosed in June, had surgery in July, baby was born in August (thankfully at full term) and chemo started at end of Sept. Oh, and our son started school too! To be honest, I'd rather be busy and distracted but it is tiring some days.

I’m so looking forward to the real Dom Perignon when all this is over 🍾 🥂

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi all I’m Liz I live in Cheltenham and I’m 50. Grew up in North Wales, lived in Chester for a year and moved here 30 years ago almost to the day! I’m er+ pr+ and her2+ . Had lumpectomy 22cm tumour, clear margins no node involvement. Chemo, rads, Herceptin and tablets for me. One round of six FEC done. Loving the Cilla introductions tonight. Took some catching up with after a day at work and an evening baking for Wear it Pink tomorrow. I’m utterly shattered my fingers and lips are tingling again seems to be tiredness related. Off to bed byes in a minute. Typically everything I touched at work wasn’t straightforward hopefully tomorrow better, want some fun. Was good catching up with everyone. Why do some of my friends and colleagues cry when I tell them what’s been going on but I am yet to shed a tear. Am I weird...Probably best to leave that unanswered!
Glad those new starters are coping on the whole, we are all gently chugging along on this strange old train each day closer to good health. Sleep well all xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Loving being home thanks jencat clipped my hair to a no 4 this morning, it’s strange because you forget your hair isn’t their anymore and when you get dressed and you don’t have your hair to yank out when you put your tops on is strange. K sorry I thought your baby was 6 months not 8 weeks, were you diagnosed during or after? Yes girls we do have a choo choo with tables with bottles of champers or whatever you want when we celebrate when we are all through🍾🍾🥂🥂😘💕💕✨✨shi xx

Hi Shi, yes I'm on fec. Perhaps the smell is just me or something has gone off in the fridge, lol! Pee normal now, was quite soon after chemo as I like my cuppa so always needing a wee! Glad to hear 60 is the new 40, although no excuses for me now for needing extra naps! Smiley Happy

How are you Shi? Bet you're really enjoying being back home x

Hope you're ok K, must be so hard doing all this with a small baby x

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Thank you Mishy, Meesh and Shi x My little one’s only 8 weeks old so thankfully doesn’t know any different and is still wonderfully easy at this age 🙂And of course everyone wants an excuse for a cuddle 😂

I’m intrigued that you don’t need a full node clearance Mishy, it was my surgeon who said it’d happen and then my oncologist who couldn’t understand why it was necessary if I’m doing chemo and rads to blitz it all. I’ll let them fight it out and keep asking all the questions!
Loving the 🦄 and ✨ ladies xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Blimey ladies, you have been busy today! It’s taken me ages to catch up on the chat.

I’m 39 and generally go by K. I’ve had a lumpectomy and SNB. I’m doing chemo, then possibly more surgery to remove the remaining nodes (traces were found in one node so they are discussing a full node clearance), then rads, then tamoxifen.
I’m weakly er+, pr+ and her- . They did an oncotype test but then disregarded it as my er wasn’t positive in the sample sent off!!! (I still don’t quite understand that). I’m not working as I’m on maternity leave at the mo (not quite how I’d envisaged it tbh!). I love my essential oils too but I’m being cautious and not using any until the little one is 6 months old. Phew!

Best wishes to everyone this evening xx

Re: October 2017 Chemo Starters

Hi everyone, glad you're all well! Smiley Happy

Wasn't on here much yesterday as seemed to spend most of the day sleeping, although judging by everyone's ages, I seem to be the oldest at 58, so perhaps I need extra naps Smiley Happy Still feel tired today, but a lot more 'with it' than yesterday!

For those of you cold capping, my chemo nurse said not to wash my hair at all!! As my ED said, what's the use of doing it if you're going to have hair smelling and looking like goodness knows what! Anyway,I didn't think that wasn't right, so looked it up in the booklet given to me and it says it's ok to wash hair once or twice a week. Phew!

Sue W, I don't fancy cereal at the moment either. Only seem to want fairly bland things, although at the moment food seem to taste fairly ok. Does your sense of smell change as well during chemo?! I keep smelling a sweet smell around me which YD says isn't there! xx
