OH should be one your side they should assess all the facts and it should be a planned response to getting you back to work when you are ready
I will have to have one soon as was off for a month after surgery then went back on a phased return for a month then as had to go through this lovely journey my GP has signed me off till the end of chemo Then as I will need radiotherapy not sure
My advice would give her all the SE you have suffered how it's affecting your energy levels and what if anything you can't do at the minute say like I find it hard to drive any distance so if you have to drive to work that's a no no
Hope that helps
Glad you are all ok😘
Yeah my poor postman nearly had a heart ache when I opened door yesterday 😊🤕 more bald patches than hair I must look a 😱😱
Good to hear you're all doing ok after chemo 2. Just remember to keep your fluids up, rest when you need it and take meds when you need them.
Poppywheel, I too have a large balding spot on the top of my head. I find days 2-4 after washing are best as my curly hair stands on end a bit and unless you're standing above me you can't really see the balding patch. Earlier threads suggest wearing a hair band to cover up the balding spots. So you could try that. I just grin and bear it, there's a lady where I work who has really poor hair and I don't think mine is as bad as hers and she's not going through chemo!
nausea seems to have abated, and no sickness, so a definite improvement on round 1
sorry you are still feeling it Poppywheel1 - which anti-emetics have they given you??
AnnaKarenina - sounds as if you are in control too I'd love to be going for a walk today, but it looks like one of those awful days when it doesnt get light!!
I didnt sleep too well, restless legs and the tingling in my right foot and hand started up again, which wakes me! They have told me they are only worried about it if it doesnt go away, gets worse or is causing me to fall over, not walk properly, or not be able to do buttons up!! If its that bad ..... I'll be telling everyone!
We are all getting there slowly!!
Happy 1st December everyone!
Great to read everyone's updates. Otter, I am really happy about the job/work. Brilliant news.
Lesley, Wilamena is wonderful - sideways, upside down, whatever! I am hope the nausea is manageable. I felt fine for the first 3 hours or so and then exhaustion and nausea hit together. I went to bed and crashed out for 7 hours, so sleep trumped sickness. Or maybe it is sleeping sickness? Off to dose up from my bag of tricks and hope that will kick the nausea into shape. I also have a thumping headache like last time, but I am planning a walk this morning with my daughter which will be good therapy. I'm sorry my vein dance let you down and hope the PICC line goes well. I am having a portacath fitted next Thursday for similar reasons, provided my blood count is holding up okay. I am apprehensive but everyone says it is a good idea, not least the poor nurses who have to try to cannulate me.
Poppywheel, Anna Bandana is fab. I also love Surburban Turban. Worth exploring if you haven't already. Thanks for asking about the eye sight and to Shi for answering. I had no idea but it has definitely been something I have noticed. I'll take the glasses SE over the nausea any day!
Hope everyone has a good day - stay warm. It is, as my grandmother used to say, schnogles out there. xx
I mainly drink water anyway even prior to chemo and loads of it too so I never have trouble with the 2L either. I try to drink nearer to 3L day prior to chemo, chemo day and day after.
Thank you it's just such a relief not to have to worry about the future in relation to finance's
My GP has signed me off until I've finished chemo but didn't want to tell my LM until I knew about job just in case they used it as an excuse to get rid off me
Know I will try an focus on getting through this🎢 with all your help 😊😘
Hope todays cocktails have gone ok and you are all resting
Meesh I probably have in excess of a dozen large mugs a day, I have it weak and on occasion top it up with hot water if I get distracted and it's gone cold.
Getting 2l down isn't a problem!
Lesley, well done on chemo 2 you need to rest up now and get that water in You! Good news on the green tea, I also drink green tea. I haven't stopped during chemo but then I only have 1-2 cups a day and figured that probably wouldn't hurt.
Your wig looks fantastic I'm so jealous!!!
also meant to say, there was a lady in the unit today having her last treatment.
She ended up being admitted for 5 days last week with sepsis because she didnt let anyone know she was unwell.
She had been monitoring her temp which was elevated and was cold and shivery and generally feeling unwell.
It was only when her daughter insisted and called the GP that he escalated it and got her to A&E
I asked my nurse about it because a couple of times in chemo 1 my temp was over the 37.5 but dropped within a few hours, I think I run on the warmer side of normal. She said a consistently raising temp or a high temp that doesnt drop is a red flag, but the biggest red flag is the cold and shivering.
I don't mean to alarm anyone, but thought I would share ....... it's better to raise a false alarm than be admitted!
But fair play to her, she got her bloods sorted and has left today knowing that she wont be having any more chemo!!
Sorry not going to spend hours trying to turn that one the right way. the highlights in are fab, the photo doesnt really do it justice and you can see thru the parting so you can see my bamboo skin coloured skull cap!
Well done Otter, glad the job is resolved and you can concentrate on getting thru chemo.
All my wigs are named - all with a W name!
Thats me done now, time to veg on the sofa I think, its been an emotionally draining morning
I think I will have to give my wig a spin on day soon 😊👩
My hubby has named it Wilma too as he says I look like the one from the Flintstones 🤔🙃 not sure if that's meant to be flattering or not
Good news heard I keep my job 2 are going which is going to be hard to manage workload but as everywhere cuts need to be made
any recommendations for sleeves for the shower?? I am sat here looking thru t'internet and not sure what is good and not???
and the onc has prescribed the clarityn for me as well - so thats a real endorsement!
Had to get the vascular nurse down to get a cannula in, so I will be leaving here with a PICC line fitting appt as well.
but on the positive everyone has commented about Wilomena the wig!! Sister thought it was my own hair!!
