Re: May chemo starters 2018

Hets, Leanne, Linda, Tropic, hope you are all feeling better than earlier this week.
Tanya, I am in Velindre for my 2nd T this afternoon. Managed 2.5 hours sleep after 16mg of the lovely dexamethosone even though i take my 2nd dose no later than 1pm. Good luck with your last one on Friday.
We are all getting closer to the finish line so get packing for Greece 🤜🇬🇷🌞 we can do this.

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Herts - so pleased you are feeling a little better today 😊. Me too 😊bone pain gone- meds reduces drastically, still have the horrid metal mouth but feeling a little more ‘me’ like - was beginning to think the whole cycle would be rubbish.
Hope se are starting to diminish for others- back to the 1 day at a time.
We’re off on hols to Somerset on Friday morning/ not even done the washing 😖- but after a better day somehow will be ready.

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Slightly better day here - no energy and some nausea but everything’s relative!

@leanne I hope no further setbacks, and the SE’s are being managed.

Op tips from me (v basic one) - take the advice from hospital and drink plenty of fluids and lots of carbs in the 48 hours before. For me I wish I had turned down codeine in the first 48 hours because of constipation complications. And one for further down the line but a friend started swimming 4 weeks after DMX and node clearance and after 4 sessions the pain/stiffness under her arm had gone. Xxx

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Hello ladies
I’m home and resting. 2 nights in with hardly any sleep not nice. They couldn’t really tell me what was wrong but had to rule out clot to be in safe side. Starting to ache now and mouth sore. Got plenty of meds from hospital tho to get me through

Hope everyone is feeling better we’ve all had a rough few weeks. We will be chasing Sarah over the finish line soon

Oh has anyone els suffered with spotty scalp. Not had it before quite sore and itchy!?!?

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Leanne so sorry you’ve been a resident at Casa NHS- hope today has been better. This docetaxel is so hard on us all, keep going we are getting there.
Here it feels that there is great turbulence on the last leg of the journey to Greece. 1 week in and starting to come out of the nightmare but not there yet- still needing a long sleep in the middle of the day. Not putting on weight as mouth so horrid eating has no pleasure, trying to drink is bad enough .
Joandbasilthedog - haven’t been to The Haven yet, nurses keep talking so positive about it. But with my 3 chn at home for the summer hols - juggling them takes all my energy - let me know if you’re going down in Sept - only 15 mins from me. It must be so hard waiting to know which op- keep asking the questions.
Linda Corrine hope you are feeling a little better now. My temp is still all over the place but just hovering below needing to ring nurse. Hang on in there.
Herts - how scary passing out- hope you have had lots of tlc today.
Sarah - hope se minimal today
This chemo is really taking its toll on us all now, but thank you to you all as you are making this more bearable for me.
Big hugs to you all x

Re: May chemo starters 2018

@mustardandgrey 2k? I’ve put on about 7 as at end of cycle 4! Jo and Basil sounds like a plan! Spoke to the chemo nurse about me passing out with no ability to control my legs in middle of the night. She thinks I’m a bit de-hydrated and low blood pressure. I decide not to point out that it was never a problem when I woke up in the middle of the night after a night out on the bottle - thought she may not see the funny sideSmiley Happy

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Ah Hets its me you probably have seen at the train station either collecting one teenager or dropping another with Basil the dog howling trying to get on train too whilst trying to get to my school work whilst cursing at lack of parking !! Obviously being a lady of chemo leisure 😂!! havent been for a while . But post chemo next month next time you are this way a medicinal tea and cake may be in order .( or was it sponge puddings??) 😊

Re: May chemo starters 2018

@leanne17 oh my goodness, hope you get out of hospital soon!
@Hets67 I've put on more than 2 kilos over the couse of chemo, I'd like to blame the steroids but I think with me it was sheer greediness Smiley Happy

Thank you ladies for all the lovely messages, it's a good feeling to get to the end, despite knowing I've got a week of injections and side effects waiting to kick in Smiley Happy
Looking forward to congratulating the next ones past the finish post!

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Hi all,

keep going everyone...congrats Sarah...such a milestone. I'll be following you onto the rads thread soon but likely to only start in Oct as no planning getting done till after last cycle.

Leanne hope you feel better soon.

im day 5 now and tired again today..working a little but resting a lot too as definitely do not want any hospital trips this time! Temp rose briefly yesterday but working on keeping it lower today.

Stay strong lovely ladies!

Re: May chemo starters 2018

@joanne (and basilSmiley Happy, I’m in Marlborough - come to Andover sometimes to do various train pick ups/drop offs so can easily come see u (or dog walk?). I have had a mastectomy and implant reconstruction already and result is v good. Didn’t have node clearance though (4). I have another friend local to you who is going through exactly the same debates atm re node clearance. She has also done a lot of research and is going to get a second opinion

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Woo hooo Sarah !!... well done 🎉💕👍🛎🛎!!.you made it ! Did you ring the bell ? I am looking forward to ringing mine on the ward next month even though still got to go back there for heceptin injections!

Sending big hug Leanne... keep going you will get out of casa nhs and be home soon . 🙏🏻

Jem , I am in Andover so not far away. I have been down to the Haven cancer centre in Titchfield .. a bit far for weekly visits for me but they have a lot going on .. have you been ? ... My op seems this big block I cant get to as until I have last scans before I get transferred back to surgeon . Depending on how well the chemo has done its job will be lumpectomy or mastectomy and then an auxiliary node clearance but all a wait and see.... fed up with waiting I am obviously concluding my own google bases research 🤪....are you having rads ? Re: May chemo starters 2018

Omg we’re falling apart!! CONGRATULATIONS SARAH!! It must be such a relief. Sounds like we all just need to bunker down and get to the end come hook or by crook! Leanne keep us posted, sounds scary. I think I put on weight in hospital because of all the snacks I eat and the only thing I really liked was the hot sponge puddings!!! I’m day 6 - passed out on way to the bathroom last night (sickness, sweats) which also happened same time last cycle - taking it v easy today and being waited on by a rather shocked husband and daughter!

Re: May chemo starters 2018

Woo hoo go Sarah!! We won’t be long behind you!!

I’m in Casa nhs!! 😒 been in since yesterday with chest pain and shortness of breath. Still none the wiser. They’ve ruled out blood clot though. Think it may be strain on heart from chemo after bad reaction to docetaxol on Friday. Hoping to know more when doctors do rounds in morning. The food is vile!!
