February 2019 chemo starters

Member

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

Hi Sarah, V is mortified because she has lost two weeks in her treatment and is torturing herself saying that Chemo will not be as effective.

She doesn't want to go out because she is afraid to be contaminated with virus again and she is afraid of being left alone.

And then is the situation of her professional future. She lost the award when her cancer was known, she cannot proceed with a PhD without funds and she has no job to return to.

She strongly desires to move away and start working for something meaningful like a charity.

For now... Things are not OK.

And you both have birthdays on the same month! Smiley Happy))))

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

Well Ladies I leave you alone for a day and look at you. Some are walking more in a day than I do in 6 months, well done. Others are having s tough time with side effects, so sorry you are feeling crap. Sleep seems to be eluding most of you too.

Poor Trixie I hope you will be well enough to go home soon and that you are having good care.

Happy Birthday Sarah.

Yesterday I met my niece and her two boys in brother's church ( he is the vicar), for a children's service and hot cross buns. Then I met my friend for coffee in town. Then last night we went out for a meal with friends and it was delicious, I even managed a small glass of wine.

Tomorrow our son is coming and after .church we are going out for lunch. So as you can see I am really trying hard to enjoy my self. Monday who knows but I am sure I will think of something 🤔.

I hope you all get some sleep tonight it's hard because it's so warm. X

Thank you for my birthday wishes all x

Sandra, how are you and V getting on?

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

Marlyn, water was the one thing I didn't think I'd have a problem with since I drink it regularly throughout the day until dinner at 6pm. Then it's usually caffeine free coke during the evening (ok alcohol at the weekend). It tastes vile so I don't think I drink enough of the stuff now. I'll let you know if things change during my break from chemo. xx

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

Implausible, I ‘d be very content with 70.

Thanks for the encouraging story about the lady you met.

Trixielady hope you’re out of hospital.

Marlyn and Susie b hope you start to feel better soon.

I haven’t eaten my favourite chorizo tortilla crisps from M&S since my first dose of chemo. They tasted awful!!

Junk food is off the menu. Infact, I haven’t eaten as healthy in my whole life . I go by my taste buds and state of my gut.

Re. Chocolate I have just discovered Hotel Chocolat . I went in with my daughter and there was so much choice it was difficult deciding what to buy.  The caramel chocolate bunnies were scrumptious ( we sampled one first). The fruit smoothie chocolate was excellent. I have also made a mental note of the passion fruit/ mango combo and the lime/mint mojito.

If I want a treat I now know where to go !!!

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

I’ve done about 8k steps. Nothing as exciting as anyone else, I went to Morrisons at lunchtime (that I can see from my house) then decided I should go post something I sold on eBay so the buyer doesn’t get annoyed if it takes ages due to bank holiday and chemo so walked to the first post office to find it shut then walked to the next, all through a crummy housing estate so thought I’d walk back through the park which meant more crappy area to get there... eventually about 10 mins in the nice bit by the burn and then back home. And I had a Feast so that probably cancels it all out...

It’s so hot too. Just sat in the garden again eating crisps, again... might have a cider. Husband keeps offering me a mojito but I don’t fancy the mint. Looks like the hottest day will be Monday, great just what I need for chemo 🥵 they’d better not put me near the window again... roll on the cold cap!

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

Hi everyone, hope you are enjoying the sunshine if you feel up to it x

Nettie, tell your husband he is my new favourite person! Smiley Very Happy  but maybe he does need a return trip to the opticians Smiley Happy

Edinbird, I LOVE those socks!!!

Rosina, I was hoping I'd beat you on steps today (I'm at 15k), but given that you had walked over 10 miles by lunchtime, maybe not Smiley Very Happy you are a machine!

Marlyn and Susie, sorry you are feeling rough Smiley Sad

And Trixielady hope you are home soon!

I have had a really nice birthday but I am soooooo tired now.  On my way home in the car now (don't worry I'm not behind the wheel and typing!).  The aircon has run out of gas and the car is like a mobile sauna!

Highlight of the day, finding (completely by accident) a graffiti wall seemingly dedicated to me Smiley Very Happy

I also met a really nice lady today.  She was on the guided walk I did this morning.  She had a t shirt with a big sequinned pink breast cancer ribbon on it so I discretely asked her about it.  Turns out she had bc 20 years ago.  She is 70 now and looked super healthy.  I couldn't keep up with her on the walk Smiley Very Happy

She told me that her mum and aunt both also had bc in their late 40s, and both lived to their late 80s.

So that's all very encouraging Smiley Happy

She insisted on giving me her email addy and said I need to surround myself with positive people and positive stories and survivors.

She also had very strong views about Tamoxifen.  She refused to take it after the first couple of months.  Said it made her feel terrible, and she read up on the benefits and decided they were too small.  She reminded me that doctors get very well rewarded for encouraging us to take alllllllll the drugs and urged me to do my own thorough research and not be scared to say no.

I am a bit (scared to question the docs), but I guess it is all food for thought

She was a real character.  I liked her a lot.

Hi Marlyn

Snap! I'm not feeling too good after 4th round of FEC either😪. Been sat down either inside or outside so far today. Got knackered popping upstairs just now. My taste buds aren't wonderful either. Not sure if feeling grotty because of the FEC or the culmination of lack of sleep😴. Usually by day 8 after chemo I start to regain some energy and by the 10th day I'm pretty much back to normal. Hope you feel better soon. Take care xxxxxx

We both didn’t think of taking money or water so we stopped by Crawley Hospital so that H1 could get a drink!

It definitely helps that I wasn’t ‘dosed’ on Wednesday last.

Well, I'm still in bed and feeling pretty groggy . Just looked on and seen so many posts. First, trixelady, so sorry you ended up in hospital! Please update us when you can?

Rosina...your yoga nidra link was fab....just what I needed yesterday, I had my windows open and all I could hear for the first few minutes were a couple arguing and if they were having a Chinese or an Indian for dinner...thank god it didn't go on for long...

all those switching to T good luck....will be interesting to see how it goes, I'm fec all the way...

feel sad I'm missing out on the beautiful weather but really can't do much moving around or eating! My taste buds are far worse on cycle 4....

remember I love you all.....keep trucking sisters xxxx

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

Sounds like bodily functions are the order of the day again! 😬

Keep getting stomach cramps my period should be due soon depending on what my body decides to do. I don’t know if it sounds daft but stopping my contraceptive pills after nearly 25 years was a big deal for me!

My husband’s friends brought me these yesterday... I think each looks like it’s on a different drug of the less prescription kind! Or I guess they could represent different chemo symptoms and feelings 😂

Anyway I’ll wear some to my session on Monday!

Hi Trixielady,

So sorry to hear you're in hospital 😔

Scary stuff, this chemo and all its side effects. Has your temperature returned back to normal now?

I hope you're being looked after well and that you're on your way home as soon as possible.

Sending big hugs xxx

Morning Hope you have a very Happy Birthday Sarah.  At least its at a good time in the chemo calendar.  Rosina you made me laugh with the farts.  I am the same.  Trixie sorry to hear that you are unwell.   Hope you get better soon.  I had the best nights sleep for months.  I slept for 6 hours without needing to pee.  Thats a record.  Nettie I love that fart picture.  Definitely sums me up!  Going for breakfast at the new river cafe on the Broads now.   Have a good day everyone.  Catch you all later xxxx

Hi all

Can I join the Wide Awake Club too? I'm so glad it's not just me who's waking up at all hours and buzzing. Also thirsty and needing to go to the loo rather too frequently. If  it wasn't for all you wonderful ladies I'd be quite frustrated and concerned.

Rosina I've got the opposite problem, belching and burping alongside mild heartburn and indigestion.

As for the farting there's something my other half read once which was basically "Don't hold a fart in. It'll only go to your head and you'll come up with a 💩idea".

I'll leave it there.xxxxx

Implausible, I showed my husband the photo of your smashing wig fringe last night whilst you were out in Birmingham and he guessed your age at 30-35 at most.......and he has been to Specsavers! What is your secret? Enjoy your cupcake but don’t set light to your fringe with the candles. 🧁🔥😘 x

Morning ladies

I've been in hospital since Thursday afternoon due to shortness of breath and chest pains with a temp of 38.3 and diarrhoea stopped now, had all the tests under the sun done and very lucky for me the only thing that is wrong is my oxygen levels so now on oxygen for awhile plus terrible aches & pains in joints and muscles , taking oxoycodone for them xx at least I'll have time to read back over, big hugs to all you special lovely ladies xx

Seaside, same here. Awake at 2.30am. Sweaty, thirsty, needed a wee, didn’t get back to sleep until 5.30am and now awake again at 7.30am. Husband definitely on dog duty this morning before he goes to golf. I’m staying put for as long as I can get away with it. Gee, feel like I was “out out” last night painting the town red and all I did was lie in bed!. 🙄😴 xx

Ugh what a rubbish night again. Awake every hour, sweating and thirsty. Then I hop onto the forum and find some of you are early birds too. Hopefully I'll catch up on some sleep later in the sunshine.

How have you got the energy to walk, Rosina? Impressive!

I'm not moving out of my bed purely on principle as it's Saturday and too early.

Love you all xxx

Rosina, all that farting is healthy. I’m surprised I’m not joining you tonight. My vegan son is here for the day and night and has loaded me with healthy green packed smoothies and a jackfruit and other veggies paprika dish (my first time having jackfruit, bit weird but I liked it).

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

Hi don’t know how you do it Edinbird.

I am up at 00.35 am due to my super turbo farts that came back with a vengeance today.

This is what I have eaten : breakfast- 1 orange and a bowl of granola cereal with soya milk, tea, lunch - 1 bowl of spinach soup, 1 banana and a handful of peanuts, dinner 1 whole grapefruit and 3 dates. Green tea (x mugs).

It can’t be the chemotherapy any more can it?

Can’t think of what would happen to me if I indulged and didn’t walk. I would probably launch into space propelled by fart gas 🤪

Will try to go back to sleep although the farts keep coming - thankfully this started after I had bought my trainers!!!!

I think the yarnbombed splat is supposed to be the sun?  It's cute regardless Smiley Happy

As for peony lady, I know the chap who painted that one, guy called Nathan who paints under the name NeverReady.  He usually uses his own photos as reference so I don't think she is anyone famous....

Like the blue trainers btw Rosina!  And you outstepped me by 5k Smiley Happy

I have just been to Jamie's Italian for the first time (it's a bit posher than the places I usually go! Smiley Happy ) for my birthday dinner.  It was really nice.  And I had 2 bucks fizzes, first alcohol I've had since before Christmas Smiley Happy ).  Edinbird, I am also flipping exhausted - yawn.  Sleep well!

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

I’m soooo tired 😴

Was so hungry and sleepy I struggled with the fondue and especially the wine. Also had Disaronno and cranberry juice before the food.

Clearly I cant manage all these drinks and sitting in the sun and engaging with people for hours and waiting so long for something substantial to eat 😕 I have felt more tired than normal at bedtime lately I just wish I could stay asleep all night! I didn’t want to get up this morning but had to for bloods so I will be staying in bed as long as possible in the morning I think!

Snooze.... 💤

Edinbird, I'm hungry now🍩🍰🍮. I don't have a sweet tooth except during Dec when it's my birthday and Xmas and florentines  are an absolute must. Then you mention crisps AND fondue. How could you? As for the drinks🍹🍹🍹. Yummmmeeeee😊

Implausible your walk around Birmingham looked interesting, some of the artwork looked pretty good. All I've ever seen of Birmingham in the train station and the Bull Ring. Well maybe a bit more but that was years ago when I went there for a couple of training courses. Love the new bathroom and the door sign. Well worth the wait I hope. xx

This is a lovely relaxing yoga Nidra meditation:

Yoga Nidra - 48 minutes

I didn’t think I could last this long without falling asleep but although I did drift I also kept returning to the voice and the instructions.

Off to walk now in my new trainers which feel fab. I went to a proper running shop and had my gait analyses.

Tried on 4 pairs. I decided on the ones that feel like slippers with support.

Can’t believe the difference!

Re: February starters 2019 - yes, we rule!

What a beautiful day. Hope  you're all managing to get a bit of sunshine having cleared various piles of dog poo etc. Glad to report my cat has behaved so far today despite nibbling some grass earlier.

The bathroom looks fab Sarah. I love the door sign. Very cool. Sorry some of your colleagues are being so inconsiderate. Not what you need.

Your morning routine sounds delightful Rosina. I just about managed the stretches today and that was at lunchtime. Going for a walk soon.

Edinbird you are leading the way for us all girl. Wishing you super strength. Remember we're with you all the way.

Hope you cope alright with the injections Nettie. The things we have to put up with right now. It just doesn't seem fair 😓

I'm off to find some shade before I frazzle!

Love to all.

So am I the T tester for everyone?! 😱 eek! 😬 am very wary but hopefully will be fine. Everyone else can enjoy their chocolate hangovers I’ll be up bright and early to eat and drink and steroid up 💪🏻
