Whit woo implausible! Bloody impressed by your eyebrows, are they yours? I seem to have lost mine! Let me know if you find them???? Xx
A little catch up....
Seaside.... my oncologist didn't tell me half of your list for T side effects! Mine said that the main thing that most people get is achey joints.... hips/knees etc. He suggested I stock up on painkillers for that. Also pins and needles in the hands and feet. And restless or sore legs at night.
He did say like yours that nausea should go away.
But he said some head hair might start to grow back.... whereas yours said more hair loss. To be honest I barely have any left to lose!
He didn't say anything to me about a higher risk of neutropenia. That's a worry.
Edinbird I'm so happy for you re the lump shrinkage and other improvements!! Definitely shows that the chemo is doing its job. A glass of wine to celebrate won't kill you, go for it
Marlyn your super-honest resident encounter made me laugh. Sounds like you cut them off just in time! and congrats on cycle 4 green light, that's good news. Best of luck for tomorrow x
Susie I'll have a daily 2 hour round trip for radio too. All for about 5 minutes of zapping. Crazy really isn't it. I wonder why more hospitals don't have the facilities. Not as if cancer is rare, as we have established, it is common as muck! And when you have to go every day for a whole month, it is a pain to have to travel so far. Wouldn't matter if it was a one off or less frequent....
And Nettie....woot!!! Another one in the bag!!!
Love to everyone else too x
the sonographer says the lump has definitely shrunk! Yay! 😁
You go, have the entire bottle, you so deserve it!
Just been given the green light for cycle 4 tomorrow
Yayyyyyy, go Marlyn, go Marlyn, go Marlyn!!!!
on way home from chemo 3 now. 3 down 3 to go! 🙌🏻 X
Honey, just did a little dance here, promise!
That is so, so great!
What a brave girl!
Hi all, going to read back on everything I've missed in a sec, but here are pics from my look good feel better thingy :
It was fun, and the actual Maggie's Centre place was really nice. I wish Swindon had one.
There were 8 ladies in my group. A mixed bunch. Aged about 45 and up. One very grumpy woman who complained about absolutely everything, but everyone else was nice. I did my usual and reverted to being the class comedian, and got a few laughs. I don't know why I always do that! Nerves I think.
I actually drove off and left my goodie bag behind because I am a numpty! But I realised and drove back and they had kept it for me at reception.
Absolutely worth the experience if only for the freebies. There are some really nice/pricey bits and bobs in there. I know that Hypnose mascara is about £30 as I've bought it before. And that Clinique moisturiser ain't cheap either.
When I got home there had been more progress on the bathroom. There is a shower now:
Great news Edinbird. Surely you deserve that drink!
Well done Nettienoo. Another one done, woohoo!
Glad yours is going ahead, Marlyn. I know that sounds wrong but you know what I mean 😊
Just had a friend from work round. She was asking me when I'm coming back. That is the million dollar question. I can't plan anything from one chemo to the next so work is definitely off the radar for a while 😔
On to happier things. I am looking forward to my LGFB session tomorrow and goody bag number 2 😁
Nettienoo, well done girly, halfway through, such a landmark! Now do what you gotta do.....xxxx
Edinbird, did an air punch during my chemo when I read that gremlin has shrunk. Have a wine hun you’ve earned it.
Rosina, I’ve used that Avene spray on holiday for years or whenever my skin feels a bit sensitive and sore. Love it.
on way home from chemo 3 now. 3 down 3 to go! 🙌🏻 X
Just been given the green light for cycle 4 tomorrow, the nurse must have thought I was nuts as I kept thanking her and said....that's fantastic news! Never in a million years did I think I would be saying chemo and fantastic in the same sentence....
rosina....oh the eyes! Mine are so sore and dry..... xx
interesting reading about the liver posts. I am drinking 5-6 mugs of water daily so there you go.
Face is feeling tight and dry so I bought myself a face mist ( no more perfume accidents
My son was with me when I bought it and he thought it was hilarious that I was buying water in an aerosol can when I could just splash my face with tap water! It does feel lovely though as my nose tip is pretty raw and my eyes are watering more than I can remember-
Edinbird......yay......good news on gremlin shrinking, soon he will be buggering off altogether! And good riddance! Xx
Brilliant news regarding your lump shrinking😊. I know you were getting worried about whether it was shrinking or not. Well done you!❤❤❤. Enjoy that drink🍷.
Marlyn the fringe looks great🤗. Sorry about the reaction you got from your resident. I don't know how old she is but my Mother-in-law worked in both children and old people's homes and she always maintained that when it comes to absolute honesty there was no difference between the two. Diplomacy was none existent in either group.
Daisydi, glad you're feeling better☺.
Sonia how did you manage all that ironing and stuff, it exhausted me just reading about it😪😴. Sorry your chemo has been delayed but at least hopefully you'll be able to enjoy the weekend without other chemo side affects.
Sandraindurham and Veronica hope you're both feeling better soon. Good idea about job alerts in Edinburgh. Hope you hear something soon.
Nettienoo your grandson did make me laugh😂. Brilliant spoonerism. A comedian in the making perhaps?
Edinbird I'm sure spag bol will be fine🍝served with red wine🍷you can't go wrong. I too am concerned about TC and radiotherapy especially since FEC for me went pretty well. Can't see me coping well with both chemo regimes☹.
As for the radiotherapy and all the travelling involved I'll be totally knackered since for me it'll be more than a 2 hour round trip. Not sure how things will work as there's no way I'm driving, Paul can't take me everyday so I think I'll need to use hospital transport. Still I'm not going to worry about that as there's lots to happen before then.
Implausible I'm sure your bathroom will be well worth the wait🚽🚿🛀🛁We're currently waiting for our kitchen update to be completed. Started early Feb. Fortunately we're just replacing the doors but there was a delay so we've had some replaced and are finally having the rest replaced tomorrow. Getting our fitter to fit around hospital appts and his work commitments
has proved to be difficult.hence extended delay.
Had a good day so far except for chemo blockage (constipation). Laxatives at the ready. No other side effects so far. Booked a 1/2 day wine tasting trip to a couple of vineyards during our little jaunt to Aix. It'll give me a chance to see a bit more of the area🏞 and see where Paul has been in the past.. Oh the first of my 4 wigs arrived yesterday, not quite right for style but a good colour. Just want the rest to arrive soonest. Also the Asda bras I ordered arrived today. I haven't tried them on but they feel nice and soft so hopefully they'll be fine for after my lumpectomy. Moving onto predictive text, is it just testing us or does it have a sence of humour😆. I honestly don't know where some of the words come from and if you don't spot them I feel a bit thick sometimes😟.
Glad the weather is beginning to warm up a little. May risk a bar-b-q over the weekend.
Love to you all xxxxxxx
Oh no Sar thought I'd be able to stop stressing about hair loss. Not looking forward to it at all except I suppose that I wont feel sick for weeks on end. I thought the white cell injections were meant to stop you becoming neutropenic. I have not had any of those injections so far. Maybe another thing to look forward to. Thanks for sharing x
Thanks Sar that’s good to know, I’ll probably get the same rundown tomorrow.
Plus my measurements... but the sonographer says the lump has definitely shrunk! Yay! 😁
The skin on my nipple is less thick and the lymph nodes are a little less lumpy. She says that’s good for halfway through. Can’t wait until 9.40 tomorrow now and now I really want a drink tonight! Argh surely one won’t hurt?
Marlyn your fringe looks gorgeous! I was wearing mine yesterday and one of the ladies I met said to me, "So you haven't lost you hair then. Unless that's a wig..." 😂🤣 At least it looks like it could be my real hair I guess.
Sonia I'm sorry to hear about your delay. You're right though - at least you can enjoy the Easter weekend.
I've just come back from my meeting with the oncologist. It was interesting. He said the side effects from T are:
Very little, if any sickness
No vein injury (yay!)
More hair loss
Higher chance of neutropenia
So I will have steroids the day before treatment and WBC injections for 5 days after chemo.
With Herceptin there shouldn't be any problems other than some people have a reaction to it which causes flu like symptoms, but this is rare.
I asked him about the tingling in my left hand, whether that is due to lymph node removal or chemo. He wasn't sure but said it's likely to be down to lymph node removal. He said we'll monitor it in case it gets any worse.
That's about it. I am slightly concerned about the higher rish of neutropenia, since I have been neutropenic throughout so far. But at least I will have the injections to counter it.
Thinking of you today Nettie. Hope it's all OK.
And I won't be eating any cockporn because that's the barrying thing that broke my tooth!
Love to all.
Noooo! I’ve been appalling with water this cycle now I’m gonna stress about my liver level...! Not sure I’m gonna drink tonight now!
Eek. I’ll have to drown myself this afternoon and all day tomorrow then...
Had to rush to my mammogram as the work car park was full... I’m so sweaty poor nurses 😬 hopefully they won’t be quick!
For my liver level they told me to drink more water last month but I’ve drank loads this month, but she said it just needs time to recover, which it should do with the extra week.
Thinking of you today nettienoo, I'm hoping I'm good for tomorrow......are you 3 or 4? Xxxxx
What is it they check in the liver Sonia? Is there anything we can do (eat/drink) to make it better?
Sonia I know it’s a pain to be delayed but feeling ok over Easter will definitely compensate. Marlyn, your fringe does look great. I’ve got one but need to to get it cut. It’s currently down to my chin and although I’m tempted to wear it that length and hide my pasty, lined face behind it and just peer through, I think I will look like a character from Sesame Street. That’s next on my list of to dos. Judah about to leave for chemo. I’m sad that my new found energy is about to disappear again but at least my house is a bit less covered in dust and dog hairs now. Love you all.
Thank you daisy and implausible.....I went to show one of my residents.....she is always brutally honest about everything, I stood in front of her and said.....what do you notice about me? She studied me carefully and said....well, your chin is darker than Normal and your cheeks are spotty.....and.....at which point I stopped her right there....by eck I won't be asking her anything again!
Oh Sonia, sorry to hear that, I'm always gobsmacked my liver is surviving, I have a fatty liver and yellow eyes.....xx
2 hour wait to find out liver levels too high, bounced to next week 😣 oh well at least I can enjoy Easter weekend
Marilyn that fringe looks really good. It suits you and you look so well! Ive cut a fringe into my hair for when eyebrows may go but it wont sit straight and I daren't straighten it so I look very strange!
The seal is ADORABLE!!!
and that fringe looks fantastic- so natural! Certainly more so than my pink and orange one Nobody would think that was a wig (or part of a wig) in a million years
Wish I lived near to seals, they are just lovely.....am going to try and post a pic of my fringe which arrived in the post this morning.....honest opinions please......then I'm off to treat myself to some cockporn......xxxx
Welcome back to the land of the living Daisydi - yay
and yes, that "cockporn" made me laugh too! out of the mouth of babes
Glad I'm not the only person whose house is an everlasting "project"
Mine was all redecorated and in fairly good working order when I moved in - but that was 17/18 years ago and until I got that money from my dad's will I'd done nothing else to it - when things leaked, broke or fell apart I basically had to put up with it as I've always been skint, and working such long hours at the office I had no time or energy to DIY anything....
I grew to really hate the place and was embarassed to have anyone round as everything was so visibly crumbling! After a year of hard work (well, I say hard work, it's the builders working hard and me paying hard ) it is really beginning to feel like a home again. And I'm not ashamed of it any more. It's a nice feeling.
Morning all, I think I am a human being today. Hoorrayyyyyy. Nettie you did make me laugh with the cockporn. Sarah the bathroom is looking great. Want mine done too and the living room where the shower has leaked onto the ceiling. One day ....Edinbird I am also worried about whats next. I cant bear the thought of being housebound with T but I am hoping that because I seemed to get all the side effects with FEC that I will sail through the T bit. Wishful thinking. Im not worried about radiotherapy. That's the easy bit in my opinion but I am bothered about the drive every day to the N+N and then trying to park. The onco said I could have evening appts but Im not sure about that as Im wondering if I might be too tired. Anyway lets not worry about that yet. Good luck for today Nettie and Marilyn for tomorrow. Have a great day everyone xxxx
I should add that we have already done 4 years work restoring fireplaces, putting back missing coving and original features and knocking through to brick outhouses etc but a restoration project is never ending. Time and resources are always in short supply. It will be worth it in the end. X
Good luck today all. I’ll be glad when I’m back home. 😳
Implausible, when you have waited a long time to get your home as you’d like it I think you appreciate the end result so much more. We had big plans to get our Victorian terrace sorted last year but due to fractured shoulder then bc, we’ve done zilch! I’m currently staring up at a big water stain on the bedroom ceiling from a leaking roof before Christmas. Roof sorted but bedroom needs redecorating. Kitchen, utility, hallway, stairs and landing all need redecorating. We started on the kitchen before bc diagnosis but then it got abandoned so it looks a right mess. When all this barryness is out of the way and we can get things sorted finally, I’m going to be a very happy bunny but there are more important things for us all to worry about aren’t there? Xx
Ah thanks Sarah travelling tiredness didn’t even enter my brain... I’m able to drive to work and walk round the corner or get a bus straight to the hospital and back. Was even thinking I’d work during radiotherapy since I can just wander over get zapped for 5 mins and wander back... that might be unrealistic. I guess I don’t realise how lucky I am that I have everything on my doorstep.
Of course I am working now... just not in the office. Once my immune system is back on track I can’t hide away at home! I have so much leave though so maybe I could do shorter days using a couple hours a day for a bit? I can’t have a proper return to work schedule unless I’m actually off sick for a while... I’ll need some sick leave after my op but again hoping it won’t be much.
Edinbird I have all the same worries about T and Radio.... I think because I've got through FEC fairly easily compared to a lot of people, my brain figures I'm "due" a naff time with the rest!
But I am trying to reassure myself with the fact that there seem to be plenty of people who have got through T and/or radio fairly unscathed , so it isn't a done deal it is going to be horrid.
My cousin has just finished his radio and said that it was "a doddle". So that's encouraging my onco says that the main thing that people find tiring about it is that it is every day , so it is kind of relentless. And usually there is travelling involved. Swindon doesn't have a radiotherapy facility so I will have to go to oxford every day (just under 2 hour round trip)
As for when people go back to work, I think that is mainly down to when you want or have to go back, more than anything else. Maybe if I had any other income coming into the household I would have had more time off (I don't live with my fella or take any money from him and I have never taken a penny from my ex for the kids, so it is all on me). But I feel fine to be back at work right now, and plan to work half days through radio and then go back to normal straight after that. If I'm up to it. I love my job, which helps
And if it makes you feel better re new bathroom, it has been pretty much unusable for 6 years! Neither toilet or sink were working and had been disconnected. We only used the old bathroom for the bath and everyone had to use the small loo for teeth brushing and everything else. I never had the money to fix it (or anything else in my falling apart house) until I inherited some money from my dad. Since then I've spent £20k getting everything sorted. It has been painful but I'm so glad that my house doesn't look like a crumbling squat any more
I am going to try and remember every one, so here goes:
1) Sandraindurham hope you and Veronica recuperate quickly. I saw your post last night and then forgot to send you ‘get well soon ‘ wishes. Good luck with the job hunting too.
2) Nettienoo lovely family pics. Good luck with dose 3 today.
3) Marlyn hope the blood test results allow you to go ahead with dose 4 tomorrow.
4) Seasidesar thank you for your kind words. I slept well last night ( I did wake up but I took myself through my Yoga Nidra meditation and was able to go back to sleep).
5) Daisydi I have made a mental note of Norfolk and Wintertorn beach. I have never been so it’s on my list of places to visit. Thanks.
6) Edinbird, Implausible, Trixielady, Susieb, Sonia28, MBJ, Ocean21 have a lovely day.
The sun is out here and I will be walking to town later . I may even watch some ‘magic roundabout’ on YouTube as it will be good to pretend that I am 4 again. I do have a dvd of Bagpuss!
Hope I have remembered every one ( except the new lady, that my brain is saying ‘glen ‘ something or other ).
Oh and I will be reading 🤗
ps yoga stretches now
Well yet another crap night's sleep😩☹. 4 hours seems to me my new normal no matter how tired I am when I go to bed🛏. I haven't been too bad since my 4th round of chemo, but that could be because I was determined to go to the party and LGFB session. Funnily enough I haven't got the Wobbly Wednesday feeling yet either, but that could come later☹. Maybe I'll check my heart rate and blood pressure later.
Caught up with all of yesterday's chat and have discovered I must be psychic since I somehow managed to answer some of your questions regarding the make-up session without seeing them. Spooky👻👻👻👻👻.
Loving all the beautiful photos, family and scenic. Those seals are soooooooo cute. What are the terns like in Norfolk? The Arctic terns in Iceland look so sleek and pretty, but boy, get too close to their nests on the ground and they literally dive bomb you!!! Looking forward to my little trip to France next month so I can see all the beautiful flowers in bloom🌻🥀🌹. Implausible the choo choo photo is brilliant. I'd forgotten how exciting Swindon could be😀!
So sorry to hear that some if you have had chemo delayed. Nothing seems to be guaranteed to happen when we want it to on this journey☹.
Will be back later for a catch up with everyone. Must get up now. xxxx
I’d love a new bathroom, kitchen, most things! But what we have is ok it does the job. Cosy in bed having taken the chance to come back in the big bed whilst husband is away. Hope I’ve not shed too much hair in here! Woke up twice having dreamt that my friend had died... not nice. Hoping he talks to me a bit more today, it’ll be our fight but also me worrying about next week, I’m scared that T is gonna wipe me out completely and make me housebound. I really hope not! Having seen more about radiotherapy on some of my triple negative forums, that seems to make people exhausted too and I don’t want to be! There have been lots of posts about return to work and people are going back three months after treatment finishes! I can’t even comprehend that, is it going to be that bad?
I’m worried about sleep and steroids too... I’m going to have about three changes of pjs lined up for Sunday night given how much I normally sweat on half the dose! But with everyone getting delayed that’s worrying me too... fingers crossed for Friday’s bloods! My halfway mammogram and ultrasound is at lunchtime so away to whip my boobs out then.
Trixie I'm glad you are getting on well with the pac. The lady I always see on my chemo days is having that weekly and she is getting on really well with it also. Much better than her initial rounds of EC. Long may your wellness continue!
Nettie what a gorgeous family you have!
Good luck to everyone getting round 4 xxx
Bathroom updates for those who asked:
Trixielady, glad the new regime seems to be working for you.
I love seeing all the photos of everyone's families trips out make and especially implausible.
Well the steroids make life slightly different, i thought i didn't sleep much before, I think I had about 3 hours tops, in broken sleep last night, got up for Danny to make sure he got his lift for swimming at 5am and have done all the back log of ironing, started to prepared tea, and will still have time to pack snacks and lunch before my bloods at 9am.
Marilyn and Nettinoo good luck today, ill be thinking of you both.
Hope everyone has a lovely day xx
Nettienoo your family look lovely good luck for today , today was day 2 of my paclitaxel and so far its been better than Fec, my temperature was always low and wbc appeared to ok but told yesterday they were improving nobody had said they were bad haha plus for some reason my temperature is 37.3 never been this high but i feel great been out for a meal tonight with a friend, left hubby home with carrot potato Red onion soup with a crusty baguette all is fair in love and war he's had loads of lovely day's and we never know what tomorrow brings but bless him he loved the soup and wants whats left for work this Barry BC will make a cook out of me yet haha, night night xx
